I'm surprised, with all of the Apple geeks here, that nobody even mentioned the Newton....

Heck, I've got a circa '91 145B PowerBook with a 14000 baud modem that I used to use Hypercard on to organize things. I still have to fire it up now and then to retrieve some info about long-past clients. [Razz]

Actually, I was going to suggest the MessagePad 2100, which was released in 1998. [Razz] And I don't know about you, but I was sitting on a T1 back then [granted, I was at university....].

But seriously, I have a MP2100 and still use it almost every day for taking notes. It works very well. And the battery life will kick the shit out of any PDA you find out there today.

Just traded my Treo 700p for a Sprint Mogul (AKA HTC Titan) with MS Outlook. Treo was a nice toy, but it was way too big, I was only getting about 300Kb/s while tethered to a laptop, and Palm Desktop sucked a gigantic pair of hairy nuts under Vista. I was thinking about getting an iPhone, but couldn't justify paying $70+ for an incredibly crappy cell plan and slow data - I get more features and 1+Mb/s data connection for less than $30 with Sprint. Now, if only Apple made CDMA/EVDO iPhone with GPS *drool*
