Hi all, I've got 1) an amusing story to tell and 2) a question to ask.

1) I participated in a silent auction recently, and one of the things I offered for the auction was a dinner date, paid for by me. In between the time that I put this service up for auction and the auction itself, I started dating someone. He thought the auction item was funny and suggested different guys that should sign up for a date with me. However, on the very last day of the auction, what do I see but my boyfriend's name as the winning bidder. I laughed my ass off when I saw him and said "so, wanna go on a hot date?"

2) Question: what are some good restaurants in and around Harvard square or the Boston metro area? I was thinking about Thai or Japanese food, but any type of restaurant would be nice. I'm paying for the date, so somewhere between super-cheap and super-expensive would be nice.

Suggestions?

The Chart House. Not Thai or Japanese, but great food, great historical interest & atmosphere, reasonably priced. Try the mud pie for desert, but only order one piece and share it.

Warning to goo: I was last there in 1986 - so my review may be quite out of date.

I don't know what I was thinking... it seemed like a good idea at the time.

I'd recommend The Pour House, but I think they card you to get in. :-/

Grotto on Beacon Hill is fantastic food, fantastic wine, small, quiet, and has excellent service. It's a touch pricy, but it has always made for a great date for me. [Big Grin]
