I'm one of the sys admins of the student run network at the school of science and math in N.C. My last post was probably a year and a half ago when I told everyone I was applying. But I've been lurking. Anyway, I got in, and this year I'm one of the "roots" on the C.S. department's network, amazingly enough.

ok, my problem:

[email protected]:/$ ssh -v [user]@neverland.ncssm.edu
OpenSSH_4.2p1 Debian-7ubuntu3, OpenSSL 0.9.8a 11 Oct 2005
debug1: Reading configuration data /etc/ssh/ssh_config
debug1: Applying options for *
debug1: Connecting to neverland.ncssm.edu [192.154.43.2] port 22.
debug1: Connection established.
debug1: identity file /home/jake/.ssh/identity type -1
debug1: identity file /home/jake/.ssh/id_rsa type -1
debug1: identity file /home/jake/.ssh/id_dsa type -1
ssh_exchange_identification: Connection closed by remote host

I was once able to connect flawlessly and I don't remember altering any files or issuing any commands on either box to affect my ssh settings. Also, I rebooted to my windows partition and was able to connect using putty http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/.

Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.
thanks

try renaming your punlic/private key pair and logging in normally with a user name and password?
