Up there, in the address bar of safari (What I'm currently using), next to the URL, there is a little tiny purple graphic.

What I want to do, at home on my mac is to use these wee graphics for bookmarks in the bookmark bar. This is easy to do on firefox on windows, which I use at work. I just downloaded the latest firefox to see if it works on the mac version, and it doesn't appear to.

Is there a way to set this up either in safari or firefox on the mac so I can fit more bookmarks in my bookmark bar? The text at the moment means I can't fit as many as I want on.

LF, are you talking about favicons? The current version of Safari does not let you put favicons in the bookmark bar. I am not aware of any software or plugin that will do it. I have seen it as a requested feature in Safari feedback forums.

I think that Camino supports that feature, you could give them a whirl.

Camino's a Mozilla browser. [Smile] Still, I bet that most Mac browsers won't do it as it probably does not abide by the HCI guidelines well. (favicons would really break the brushed metal look.)

OK, so now I know they are called favicons.

If it can be done with firefox on PC, I'm sure it can be done with firefox on mac. I just don't know where the damn preferences are for it.

I might give camino a go though.

Camino does put the favicon in the bookmark bar, but you get the "name" of the bookmark next to it. I guess you could use a space for the name of all your bookmarks, or maybe there's an option to only display the icon.

The other problem is that the favicons seem to go away every time you restart camino, which leaves you with a bunch of generic bookmark icons.
