Samsung doesn't seem to have any software to support that. If you have just recently bought it, return it quickly and get a phone that you can get the software to do what you want.

no doubt there will be a cable there for your specific model too

someday i'll get around to getting one, and hack my phone to get the star trek communicator sound to play when i flip it open... [Big Grin]

That is just the cable, he wants the software. The closest thing to what would meet his needs is this, but it only supports contact data and internet, not picture download.

I recently went through this at the end of last year. I did alot of research before I bought my cell phone because I wanted software that could edit the contacts and dowload and upload pictures. Finally settled on a Motorola V220. If he doesn't have the right software, the computer will not know what to do with his phone.

the cable comes with software, i thought

you should be able to at least connect the phone to the pc, once that's established you can do w/e you want

and what's the point of a flip-phone if it doesn't do that beepbeep-beepbeepbeep sound? [crazy]

Coincidentally, I just purchased a cable/software kit on ebay for the Motorola V220 so we can fetch the pictures off of it...

I believe LG's phones have standard USB ports in the bottom (not all of 'em, just some). A bit steep for me, though - I'm getting the Vx6100. Finally, a phone with no induction coil interference!

Not always, I bought my cable without the software because I already had it.

Nope, I connected my phone before installing the software just to see what would happen. It just saw it as a phone, but it wouldn't let me into anything in the phone. It's like the computer was saying, "Yep that's a phone alright, now what?"

If you make a flip-phone do that when you open it, you will be my hero.

The easiest way?
Get a Nokia phone. The 7610 I have came with a cable and software. You can backup pretty much everything you can think of with this..

Very easy...

thomas

P.S: Oh.. I forgot: I am not sure if that software supports MAc though.. Thats why I love windows.. supported by everything.
