Does anyone know of a good FREE HTML editor for the Mac?

We have a nice one for the PC, It's coffee cup but don't like to be chained to the desk.

WYSIWYG, or more IDE-ish (highlighting and such)? I would recommend JEdit for the latter. For the former ... no idea. I don't do much WYSIWYG'ing.

Smultron is a good multipurpose text editor that has support for HTML tags. As for a good HTML editor like WYSIWYG, I don't know, I use the one built into Mozilla, but now I have been doing more hand editing. Mozilla doesn't go a great job creating readable HTML and it removes any non-HTML code, like PHP that you put into a file when you open it. You could try texteditor, or amaya which you can install using fink

BBedit ($180), BBEdit Light ($0), Text Wrangler ($50) would be my top picks.
I love BBEdit.

Emacs? Vi? Surely there has to be a port of a real editor for the Mac?

Better to be let down than dumped on [Eek!]

ps I use a combination of BBEdit and the code editor in Dreamweaver (obviously not free but a good piece of kit).

So he gave her one
