Loving your computer is like any other relationship; it has its ups and downs.

Yeh, not to mention only one side of the arguement is willing to try and fix their problems.

Just because your computer is done, doesn't mean you have to stop loving it. Love goes beyond death. But you must move on, just don't forget all the joy it brought you and keep it in a special place in your heart.

I have a laptop problem. I can admit it now. I used to be in denial, you see - but I accept I have a problem. I peruse ebay for old Dells and Omnibooks - it makes me moist inside just thinking about obtaining yet another unnecessary, sweet, lovely, twinkly, little box of fun. Laptops are my friends. I have too many already - and yet I want more, and more...

Just got myself an old Satellite Pro - totally didn't need it, but it's a yummy little thing... oh, my gorgeous grey lovely...

Kids - beware. This could happen to you! Just say 'no'. [Smile]

Uh oh. Is it a bad thing that I already have 3 laptops? [Wink] (Not counting the iBook, as I don't actually own it.) The inventory:
My production machine a - a Celery 366 w/256 & 5 - running Debian
My old portable TTY - A P100/24 & 1
My new portable TTY - A P233/96 & 2!

The latter two are still running the copies of Win95 that were on them with their owners passed the units on to me. Still a copy of Serial Terminal Linux makes both of them very handy in a pinch, and they both have PuTTY and the like installed on them. The newer machine runs Knoppix pretty well - but at some point, I will find time to put Linux on them.

I love all my laptops... my PowerBook 170, my 5300 and my G4 TiBook. I want more, though... I want a Macintosh Portable, a 1400 and a PowerBook G3 Pismo. But hopefully, the next one I buy will be a first generation Intel PowerBook (yes, I know it's breaking the tech commandments, but I really need something new).

Heh, this reminded me of the Franz Ferdinand line "give me some more, I'll have another one..."

So THAT'S why you're always asking how mine is doing! You're hoping I'm a bad parent so you can take my Pismo into protective custody! You can't have 'im though. 'e's mine, all mine! [Mad]

(Although I could use some extra cash right about now. US$650 and 'e's yours. [ohwell] )

Heh... no, I'm glad that at least one more is in safe hands. I just love the Pismo, for its design and general coolness. And for the fact that Willow had one.

Still, "proctective custody" sounds like a fairly good way of getting computers. I've always though that those guys over at Virginia Tech don't look after their cluster well enough...

I have and love my Toshiba Staellite 2435, it is running Fedora Core 4 with Enlightenment 17 (Pure graphical love) as the DE. The only hardware that doesn't work in it right off the install is, of corse, the modem. also have an old Satellite Pro 425 CDT (i think), it runs RH 7. something and my mom plays the gnome games on it.
