There was a contest her in Basel last month for the best Läckerli (it is a swiss cookie) recipe. My wife was one of the winners. She won 300 franks for a dinner at a local restuarant. (300 CHF = 250 USD) So here is her winning recipe.

Ingredients

4 ¾ cups Baslerläckerli „Piccolo“

1 cup milk

4 bananas

1 cup sugar

¾ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups flour

1 ½ teaspoon baking soda

Preparation

Soak 3 ½ cups Baslerläckerli in milk for 45 minutes. Mash bananas and mix with sugar in an electrical mixer. Add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the bananas and mix well. Put Baslerläckerli in a sieve to drain from extra milk. (You can collect the milk and drink it later – it’s very good!) Mush the Baslerläckerli in the sieve, add to the banana mixture and mix well. Add flour and baking soda and mix well again. Finally add 1 ¼ cups Baslerläckerli to the dough and pour mixture into a loaf pan that has been covered with wax paper. Bake for about 70 minutes at 350 degrees F in the middle of the oven.

What is "Baslerläckerli" in the English-speaking world? Google only returns German pages...

Here's a recipe, which probably explains it better than I can.

Wait, so you're making cookies out of cookies? Doesn't that make them meta-cookies?

It sounds delicious!

Yes, that's exactly the same point I'm confused on. The ingredient certainly /seems/ to be cookies, which is quite puzzling.

No, it's cake made with bananas and cookies. The cookies are soaked and mushed with the bananas. Looking at the ingredients and directions, I'd say it has a texture like banana bread but with different flavors.

Sounds tasty, though.

Sorry, to clear this up, it is a banana cake recipe, made from a local cookie, made famous in the city i live in.

Edit: Thanks steen. I guess I should read through all the posts before I start responding.
