6 is a perfect number (equals the sum of its divisors other than itself) but 12 is not.

The divisors of 12 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12. 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 6 = 16.

The second perfect number is 28 (1 + 2 + 4 + 7 + 14 = 28). The third one is 496, then 8128, then they get really big.
