Not entirely sure I agree with this diagnosis. Far too many questions open to interpretation. Asking a yes/no question where the answer is not black and white....

Or maybe thats just my weird-thinking schizotypal personality talking. I'd be interested if other people thought the same...

Well, I was low for all of them except for Schizotypal. I'm not really sure how much faith I have in this test though. The questions were all one sided, and their goal was too easy to pick out. Even such, I think all of my answers were not to what the question intended. For instance others do consider me arrogant, but thats just because I know I'm better than them. Just kidding. I don't think I've got much of a personality disorder though.

Apparently I'm a needy guy...
I do have to agree that the questions were a bit too black and white, for example, "Have you ever exaggerated illness or other weakness in order to get attention?" hasn't everyone? I mean, when you're younger, everything is a major accident if someone is watching you...

"Do other people accuse you of being self-centered?" Well yeah, but only when I was knowingly being self-centered, like when I throw my webcam up and "demand" that everyone look at me.

Oh well, I guess if I have to have a mental disorder, it may as well be self-centeredness, because I'd hate to be burdened with the rest of the world's problems. Besides, you all think I'm wonderful. Right?

No great surprise here. Anyway, those tests are just guidelines. (See a psychiatrist if you want serious answers.) Oh, and I'm working on my "avoidant" problem.

(Yes, I'm still alive. The last two months were a bit crazy, and I no longer have access to Internet from the office. Yet, it's not all bad news. I'll tell you more when I'll find some time for it.)

This is one of the poorest personality tests I've ever seen.

"Is your appearance or behavior considered "eccentric" by other people? "

What do you put if the answer is no to one and yes to another?

"When you are talking to someone, do they sometimes have difficulty following your train of thought? "

Is there seriously anyone for whom this hasn't happened "sometimes"?

"Have you ever been in jail or done something that you could be put in jail for? "

Before or after 9/11? :/

"Do you engage in any obsessive or compulsive behavior? "

Well, now we know what question they're using to rate obsessive/compulusiveness... :P

That said, here's my ratings:

Paranoid: Low
Schizoid: Low
Schizotypal: Moderate
Antisocial: Low
Borderline: Moderate
Histrionic: Low
Narcissistic: Moderate
Avoidant: High
Dependent: Moderate

Errr, Avoidant and Dependant, someone is going to have to explain that one to me.
The questions are just too black and white, with no possibility for a grey area in between (they even have a question about that one).
Way too vague as well.

This type of personality test is similar to those used by cults like the Scientologists and so on.

The idea is, that while looking like a serious test, the resulting data nearly always shows that you have some sort of problem. A problem that can easily be cured by a short series of 'sessions' or 'workshops', usually involving you giving them money.

As people have pointed out, most of the questions aren't very well designed, either written as questions that shouldn't have a yes/no answer or have no measurable answer.

This is the sort of stuff that's on a par with the 'is your boyfriend cheating on you' tests in teen magazines.

People with histrionic personality disorder are constant attention seekers. They need to be the center of attention all the time, often interrupting others in order to dominate the conversation. They use grandiose language to discribe everyday events and seek constant praise. They may dress provacatively or exaggerate illnesses in order to gain attention. They also tend to exaggerate friendships and relationships, believing that everyone loves them. They are often manipulative.

hmmm maybe that's why I feel like I am not recognized for the amazing person I am j/k

This reminds me of a statistic that I saw on a sign once saying that 1 in 4 Canadians has a mental health problem of some sort. Beware the crazy Canadians!

Given the criticisms of the methodology, it's not too surprising that it missed on the narcissistic and schizy stuff (moderate? after reading the descriptions I can't think of much that fits me less; on the other hand, I know for a fact that there's someone from my past badmouthing me, because I got it straight from the horse's mouth... but that didn't come out as paranoid for some reason).

I should probably rate higher on the avoidant scale, but maybe I'm a lot less avoidant than I used to be.

Don't worry, I'm the one. I once had a depression (not officially diagnosed, but looking back at it, I had every symptoms.) And that being a mental illness, well... You can breath, you're OK.

(Now, that wasn't so bad. Staying in bed half the day, playing computer games the rest of the time because I was too depressed to do anything else, for a full six weeks... I fluked my session, but I had a good reason1)
