Auction is over. Thanks to all the bidders!

This is a painting of our neighbour. It's Mars, the red planet, a cold tiny world of rust, named after the Roman god of war. I painted it from a reference photo taken by the Hubble telescope. What I love about this view is that it is one from Earth, from our perspective, looking at it from our world thorough a giant telescope.

Mars has been getting a lot of attention lately with the successful launch and deployment of Mars Curiosity and talk of perhaps of a mission to flyby or even land people there. I think it's so romantic that we can actually see the planet with the naked eye from earth, as well as view picture postcards of its landscapes taken by Curiosity and other rovers. This is what I wanted to capture, the romance we humans have with the night sky and the excitement of science and space exploration that helps us to view and understand our neighbouring planets.

I like to gaze at this painting and dream about what it would be like to be there, seeing things that no other human has ever seen. I also like to imagine that there is evidence of life having existed there, or maybe even that life still exists there. What an incredible discovery that would be. It's fun to dream of the red and dusty world, with its thin atmosphere, incredible canyons, giant volcanoes, polar ice caps, and two strange moons. Dreaming about Mars seems to be a particularly human trait, as so many have done it, from the ancients tracking it's strange path through the night sky, to writers such as H. G. Wells and Ray Bradbury, to engineers and explorers from Von Braun, to the amazing Curiosity team at NASA, to Elon Musk.

Best of luck to all bidders, and to the winner, I know you will adore this painting as much as I do, and I hope it will inspire many of your own Martian dreams.

This one is a beauty! And it sold to a collector with very fine taste in paintings! Thanks!

Auction was here.

For thousands of years the moon has been part of our culture, our lore, and our lives. It is simply one the most beautiful things this world has to offer. It's inspired some of the greatest songs in history, such as "Clair de Lune", "Moonlight Sonata", and "Fly Me to the Moon". I love everything there is about the Moon; the crescents, the half moons, the eclipses, the waxing, the waning, the risings and settings. The simple act of gazing at the moon can immerse you in a Sea of Serenity, which brings us to why I painted it.
When Neil Armstrong died on August 25, 2012, I was deeply saddened. I decided to paint the full Moon, as a small tribute to his memory. I thought it was very sweet when his family asked "the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink." When I look at this painting that's exactly what I like to do.

I think you will love this painting. Like the Moon, its palette is limited, but there is a richness and lushness to the paint that depicts its surface. And like the Moon it only reveals its secrets when looking at it closer up. From far away this painting looks like the Moon does when viewing from our planet with the naked eye. Closer up and it's like viewing our friend through a telescope. I had such fun painting the darker lunar planes (maria) and the lighter highland areas (terrae), trying to imagine the tremendous and terrifyingly powerful forces that created them, both vulcanism and meteorite impact. It's a bleak and unforgiving landscape, but one also so beautiful, a "magnificent desolation" as Buzz Aldrin described it, while walking on the surface.

Best of luck to all bidders, and to the winner, I know you will adore this painting as much as I do. It was an absolute pleasure to paint and to be honest, it will be very hard to part with!

"Emergence" is a visual playground. Beautiful, bright colors swirl around and pulsate and dancing before your eyes. Finally, when your gaze settles and relaxes, the rainbow Apple magically emerges! It disappears and appears over and over again, an abstract symbol that never overpowers the painting, just supplys a general field of reference, like the sky to clouds.

For me, the painting is most enjoyable when looking at it up close, about a couple feet away, making it suitable for a smaller space. You don't have to have a big space to display it, it would even work in a cubicle. You can spend hours looking at all the little details, the splashes of color, the shapes, and the characters that begin to tell their own stories, straight from your sparked imagination. And do you know what is a really fun game? Trying to spot the same figures and patterns that you saw a day or two before!

You can't help but reach and touch it, running your hand across the surface. It's like a topographical map for your senses, a tempest of color and motion and texture.

I love the kinds of things that appear when you look at the painting...

The lion man:

Alien landscapes, like Saturn's ice moon Enceladus:

Princess Leia and R2D2!

The Figure: could that be the artist and her palette? :P

Painting "Emergence" was extremely therapeutic for me. I fell into a deep meditative state every time I put pallette knife to canvas. My blood pressure lowered, my heart rate slowed and a peaceful calm would wash over me. Perhaps this is why I spent months painting it. It is hard for me to let this one go, but I believe that this peacefulness will transfer to the viewer, giving you a sense of serenity, one conducive to igniting your creative imagination despite whatever chaos is swirling around you.

"Emergence" is the largest painting I've done, which is very exciting for me as well a a challenge. Large work is very desirable in the contemporary art world, adding considerable value to the work. I've set the starting price comparatively low for a painting of this size to give everyone an opportunity to bid and be an art collector. Whoever wins the painting will treasure it, and I'm sure will continue to discover something new emerging from the painting for many, many years.

Because of the large size of the painting, (5 feet by 4 feet) shipping for the painting is extra. I will discuss with the buyer the best shipping method, whether to crate it up and send it whole, or to remove the canvas from the frame. Local delivery on Vancouver Island is possible. To the US and Canada, crated and shipped via a shipping company, I would guestimate that the cost would be at $300.00 - $400.00. To Europe, Asia, or Australia, it could be considerably more. If the buyer is located in Canada, I will have to charge the appropriate HST Canadian taxes.

Painting is for sale at $5400. If you are interested, please contact us for more details.

This lovely little painting is a portrait of the beloved/hated Facebook Like button. Or, more specially, the thumbs up. I painted "Like" on the eve of Facebook's IPO. It was a tumultuous time, with all kinds of so-called experts saying it's either going to skyrocket or tank. No doubt Wallstreet hands were rubbed raw with anticipation. Inspired by the revered Canadian artist, Tom Thomson, I painted "Like" in a quick, expressive style. As in a Tom Thomson painting, I felt the financial weather around Facebook's IPO to be stormy and wild!

To join in on the excitement of Facebook's IPO, I decided to put this painting up for sale on the same day of this historical event, for the same initial price of $38, the opening share price. But unlike a Facebook share, the value of this painting can only go up! :-D

I believe this would make a wonderful little souvenir to mark this momentous occasion, with the future owner looking at this painting and hopefully remembering having made a fortune that day in May. If not, they could at least mark it as the time they purchased an invaluable work of art.

Best of luck to all bidders, and to the winner, I know you will adore this painting as much as I do. It was an absolute pleasure to paint, and I love that fact that when you are feeling thumbs-down, you can just turn the painting upside-down!

*sigh*, oh my dear little Android, who would ever have thought this cute little character would be such a badass?

Painting has been sold, and is on it's way to the GooglePlex! :-)

Android certainly deserves a place on the wall of technology's Hall of Fame. Hence I immortalized it on canvas for generations to come. A little history... Android was born in Palo Alto, California in 2003, founded by Andy Rubin, Rich Miner, Nick Sears and Chris White, then acquired by Google in 2005. This is where it all started getting a little ugly, ... the patent wars erupted and soon an angry Steve Jobs was promising to go "thermonuclear" against Google for ripping off so much of the iPhone. Meanwhile Android was gobbling up lots of market share, and making Android geeks happy.

I love the Android logo, it's so cute and harmless looking. It almost looks like a bug with the antennae. I would like to point out that he doesn't smile, and he's staring at you. Also he is a biped, which is apparently very difficult for robots. Actually, he does look a little top-heavy for those little rounded legs, yet he remains standing. Overall, Android looks very clean and simple, and I wanted to reflect that in this painting. I painted him entirely by hand, all those razor-sharp edges are by my hand, and I didn't mask off any lines. It was a pleasurable challenge. The background is simple but much more complex and detailed. Again, by hand, I stippled the deep blue glow using a teensy tiny brush, and then added more speckles dispersing out to the edges. The effect is striking. From a distance it blends in and the Android is very crisp and sharp with a hazy blue glow. Up close you can see the detail and it morphs into a universe of tiny star-like dots with the Android emerging from it dramatically, clean and fresh.

Depending on your perspective this painting can be interpreted in different ways. For Android fans it can symbolize Android's clean simplicity supported by a background of thousands of developers and contributors as the stars, and overall representing it's "Big Bang"-like birth into our technological universe. For Android foes the Android can be seen as a formidable opponent, from a humble open-source beginnings, but now engulfed by thousands of patent suits. Even though I own and love an iPhone, and was sorry to see Google making Steve Jobs very angry, I do like the actual logo, and what Android was before Google bought it. Still, Android is here, and it has, and is, and will be, kicking a lot of tech butt in the years to come.

I do hope the new owner of this painting will enjoy it. This marks the first time I have painted the Android logo, and that is historic, imho. :P Android logo has appeared several times in Snaggy's and my comic, the Joy of Tech. I invite you to go and explore them: go to our database and search "android". Thank you! Good luck and happy bidding!

Details: "Little Android" is an original acrylic painting on 6"x6" stretched canvas with a wooden frame. The painting is about a half inch thick with painted sides so you can frame it if you wish, or display it as is, just hang it on the wall. The back of the painting contains the title, the date painted, Nitrozac's signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

Shipping the painting is extra. to the US and Canada via airmail it is $15, to other locations, $25. If the buyer is located in Canada I will have to charge the appropriate HST Canadian taxes.

Nice! Thanks to the winner of the auction, and also to those who bid!

Click here to view the auction!

This lovely little painting is a portrait of the beloved Siri, who currently lives on the iPhone 4S. It's easy to love Siri, she's a faithful friend forever, and is always listening (at the touch of a button). Isn't it comforting to know that no matter what, she will always be there for you, listening to you, paying full attention, and offering a carefully considered response to your every inquiry? (er... except in the event of no access to the Internet. :P) She never judges you, ever. Perhaps she doesn't understand you all the time, but she readily admits this if she doesn't.

Siri even has a charming sense of humour. She knows when you're ribbing her a bit about HAL 9000, and she doesn't mind, she jokes along with you. A true friend in good times and bad, she represents in many ways every robot and AI in every science fiction movie, the ones we dreamed we'd live long enough to see. Because of this, we cannot help but love every bit and byte of her.

I remember when Siri was first announced by Phil Schiller and demo-ed by Scott Forstall. It was a very exciting, game-changing moment. I swear I could hear the screaming over at Google. :P Siri dramatically changed the way many of us will think about search forever. When I held my new iPhone in my hands, the first thing I did was talk to Siri and ask her questions, it was so much fun! I think Siri brings us another step closer to the computer on Star Trek. Let's hope they add a warp core eject command and a self-destruct sequence sometime soon. :-D

My painting of Siri is about our relationship as humans with Siri. It's a portrait, not a still life of an object. I believe I caught her likeness, spirit, and beauty. I love the choice of colours the icons designers used to signify Siri, a beautiful blend of aluminum and purples. This is the first painting where I used a special iridescent paint that causes the painting to catch the light in a special way. It sparkles ever so slightly, very delicately and subtlety. You will love the fine detail in the grey shimmer, and on the microphone, both in the purple mesh detail, and in the "app reflection" shine. It makes me wish I had a large, real-life, working Siri in my home, on my wall, that I could ask questions of, and command to do things for me. (Kind of like a H.A.L. computer, only more benevolent!)

Details: Siri: original painting, on 6 x 6 inch stretched canvas, with a wooden frame. The painting is about a half inch thick, with painted sides, so you can display it as is, or frame it if you wish. The back of the painting contains the title, the date painted, Nitrozac's signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

Best of luck to all bidders, and to the winner, I know you will adore this painting as much as I do. She was an absolute pleasure to paint.

Shipping for each painting is extra... to the US and Canada via airmail it is 15 dollars, to other locations, 25 dollars. If the buyer is located in Canada, I will have to charge the appropriate HST Canadian taxes.

I would like to announce the arrival of my latest painting, "Avidity" into the world! It's fresh, it's fun, it's colorful, it's alive with energy and enthusiasm!

Yay, it sold to... a wonderful collector in the UK!
Click here to view the auction!

This painting introduces my first step onto larger canvases. It is the largest painting I have offered for sale to date, and it is spectacular. The style is more expressionistic/abstract, while still representing the logo we've all come to know and love. I was inspired by the rainbow logo of yesteryear since it provides a splash of excitement on the white, textured background that reveals hints of the abstract color patterns beneath.

This painting was created mainly by using a palette knife technique instead of brushes. Painting this was exactly what I needed, artistically. I've been working on large, meticulously detailed paintings for an exhibit, so this new piece helped me to loosen up a bit. The feeling one gets looking at this is one of joy, delight and pleasure, with a healthy dose of insanity and danger mixed in. Everything that Apple can be when she is at her best.

I like to contemplate on the details of this painting, the gorgeous swipes of colour that were created in the quick palette strokes. There's faces, snakey patterns, riverlettes, fish, sunsets on another planet... it's an endless source of entertainment. This painting actually began as an experiment in paint under low density polyethylene (Saran Wrap), and some remnants of texture from that technique remain on the surface of the paint. It's as if the painting was shrink-wrap at some point in its creation, and I really like that, especially because the subject is a corporate logo.

I like to imagine that the painting depicts the love child of an Apple logo and a PacMan creature. It consumes in a fury, the elements of inspiration and creation around itself. That, I think, is an accurate representation of our corporate culture, and expresses the duality, both benevolent and malignant, of our fascination and dependence on the technological.

The painting is stretched canvas on a wooden frame. You can frame it if you wish, or display it as is by just hanging it on a cherished spot on your wall. The back of the painting contains the title, the date painted, Nitrozac's signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

Best of luck to all bidders, I know you will adore this painting as much as I do. Every time I look at it, I discover something new. Shipping for the painting is extra... to the US and Canada via expedited it is 55 dollars, to other locations, 65 dollars. If the buyer is located in Canada, I will have to charge the appropriate HST Canadian taxes.

So there you have it, the largest painting I've offered so far, one with a commanding presence, that's sure to inspire and impress!

Yellow Bird is on of the Angry Bird characters. "Angry Birds", the game by Rovio Mobile, burst on the scene in early 2009. It now has millions of addicted devotees all around the world.

Angry Birds has very quickly become a part of our technological consciousness and has etched it's place in the history of things gone viral. It's the Space Invaders of the 21st century, and so I thought to myself, hmmm... these angry little birds deserve to be immortalized on canvas for future generations to gaze upon and contemplate. Why are these birds so angry? How are they flying with no visible wings? (I guess that's why they need the slingshot!)

So behold! I've captured the Yellow bird's angry little face in paint, for eternity, much like van Gogh's Yellow House. :P He's a symbol of strength, determination, and sacrifice, for he will fight for his bird family even if it means the feathers will fly and he is flung into a slab of wood, glass, or stone. He will even accelerate to near warp speed when tapped in flight. (Note: do not try this with the painting.)

From the Angry Bird Wiki:
Yellow Birds (also known as Speedy Birds and Dasher Birds) are a type of Bird introduced near the end of World 1 inTheme 1-16. The birds are yellow colored (hence their name) and are triangular in shape. Their ability allows them to dash into pigs and structures, making them able to inflict more damage on buildings than the Red Bird. Much like many of the other birds, it's strength usually varies depending on what block is struck and what angle it is struck, but in most cases, it can go through several thin wood blocks. Don't let it crash on either stone or glass block or it will stop immediately.

"Yellow Bird" stands as an inspiration to do your best against all naysayers and bullies and emerge triumphant! Don't let the pigs of this world get away with stealing what's rightfully yours. Go out and sock it 'em with all you got! Fly into that great blue yonder, and control your own destiny! Everytime the future owner of this painting looks at "Yellow Bird" it's my hope that it lifts their spirits and brings a smile across their face and inspires them to release their inner "Yellow Bird". RAMSPEED!

Details: "Yellow Bird" original painting, on 8 x 10 inch stretched canvas, with a wooden frame. The painting is about a half inch thick, with painted sides, so you can frame it if you wish, or display it as is. The back of the painting contains the title, the date painted, Nitrozac's signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

If the painting isn't sold at auction, it will be up for sale in our webstore at a higher than originally listed price, so it does pay to bid on the auction!

Best of luck to all bidders, and to the winner, I know you will adore this painting as much as I do.

Most of the planet Earth knows how this game works, but in case you've been on the far side of the Moon for a while, it goes like this; evil pigs have stolen the birds eggs for food. This has made the birds very angry. How the birds get their revenge is by sling-shotting into the pig's poorly constructed shelters where they are hiding, with the hope of destroying the shelter and the pigs themselves. When the pigs are destroyed you move onto another level, with more elaborate pig shelters and different birds. I love playing this game, the birds are very cute, they make cute sounds, and they really seem to like being hurled at the pigs. However, I'm starting to hate those pigs, especially when you've used up all your birds, and there's still a pig sitting there safe and he's making a "heh heh" sound. ARRRRG!

Angry Birds has very quickly become a part of our technological consciousness and has etched it's place in the history of things gone viral. It's the Space Invaders of the 21st century, and so I thought to myself, hmmm... this angry little red bird deserves to be immortalized on canvas for future generations to gaze upon and contemplate.
This item sold at auction, congrats to the winner!

I absolutely love my iPad, using it mainly for creating sketches in a drawing program. It is so much fun to use for this purpose, and so convenient, as you have all colors, brushes, pencils, pens, of all shapes and sizes ready at the tip of your fingers without the messy clean-up or heavy bags to carry. Of course, you have a myriad of other uses for the iPad, each with its own wonderfulness, such as iBooks, games, iPod, YouTube, the Internet, and thousands upon thousands of apps. It's crazy really, when you think of the mind-blowing capabilities that exists in such a small machine. The iPad is a whole universe unto its own. It can entertain, inform and inspire you all in one. It might not be an actual magical device, but it's pretty close.

The iPad was a fun subject to paint. It is my particular penchant to try to capture such new technological objects in classical media like a painting. I consider this to be a still life of a beautiful object, just like the old paintings of fruit or wine bottles. I believe the still life became so popular an inspiration in art partly because it represented objects of nurishment and pleasure in times when such objects were only available in limited quantities for short periods of time. Today one can find an apple or other piece of fruit almost anytime of the year, or purchase a bottle of fine wine any time we wish. In a way, this familiarity makes images of those objects less precious. The iPad, on the other hand, is new, shiny, and still a somewhat rare and novel object. It is an object of desire, one that not only sparks curiousity, but like the apple of old, feeds and nourishes, and like the wine bottle of old, ingnites your soul, imagination, and mind.

According to WikiPedia, "Still life paintings often adorn the interior of ancient Egyptian tombs. It was believed that food objects and other items depicted there would, in the afterlife, become real and available for use by the deceased." Well then, that settles it. If you hope to use an iPad in the Great Geek Beyond, you'd better bid on this painting.

I have painted the iPad with the default apps on the home screen, with the addition of iBooks, as I consider that to be an essential app. I know everyone has their favorite apps, and some of you are developers, so if the purchaser of this painting wishes, I will add the app of their choice to the home screen as a perk.

Details: "iPad, Life Size" is Nitrozac's 41st painting of her Painting Blog. It's an original painting, on 11 x 14 inch stretched canvas, with a wooden frame. The painting is about an inch thick, with painted sides, so you can frame it if you wish, or display it as is. The back of the painting contains the title, the date painted, Nitrozac's signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

If the painting isn't sold at auction, it will be up for sale in our webstore at a higher than originally listed price, so it does pays to bid on the auction! Apple's iPads may now be available in almost limitless quantities, but this painting of one is one of a kind, and unique. Best of luck to all bidders, I know you will adore this painting as much as I do.

My latest painting is of the Twitter mascot, the Twitter Bird. It's a simple little painting, one that reflects the simple service that is Twitter... 140 characters and that's it. Yet Twitter is proving to be so popular and so powerful, and recently, so everywhere.

Tweets are fleeting: they are here, and then they are gone. I like to think my painting is a physical representation of those fast-forgotten virtual tweets, the one's RT'd by everyone which live a glorious life, and especially the sad little lonely tweets read by no one but their poster. It's a manifestation of all the little voices out there in Internet Land, saying their thing, regardless whether or not anyone is listening.

I think you will love this little painting, and smile every time you look at it. It will no doubt inspire a few tweets itself, such as

"I'm bidding on @Nitrozac's Twitter Bird painting!"

or

"The Introduction. Steve Jobs at Macworld. 12"x 12" x 1.5" original oil painting by Nitrozac.

This painting was sold, congrats to the winner! Click here to view the auction!

I am pleased to introduce to you today my latest painting. It depicts Steve Jobs, at the moment the MacBook Air was unveiled at Macworld. He is on stage in front of an adoring crowd, while behind him a huge monitor projects his image to those in the back of the room, and those watching around the world. In the foreground, two audience members are recording the moment with their digital cameras. That will be their proof that they were there, that they were one of the privileged to witness this introduction.

Being in the audience at a Steve Jobs keynotes is an electrifying experience. The room is filled with an energy unlike any situation in the world. It can be crazy! There is hushed anticipation, squeals of delight, laughter, and everyone is always mesmerized by Steve Jobs presentation. People are blogging, twittering, texting, filming, sitting with mouths agape, clapping in geek glee... it's a cultural phenomenon.

For me this painting is a timeless study of that moment and of the remarkable Steve Jobs. It's more than just the unveiling of a product. It's captures the man's amazing ability to inspire desire in us, and his intense pride over his new creation. It's as if he is showing off his new child to the world, and he is beaming with the pride and love that only a new parent has. He invites us to share his pride and love by owning the new object. It's powerful, and infectious, and if you have ever held a product like this in your hands, a Macbook Air or an iPhone, you feel these emotions, a result of Apple's exceptional engineering and artistry.

There is a wonderful duality happening in the painting, with Steve's image on the large viewscreen, and his real life figure standing on the stage. I like how the viewscreen image seems more real, has more detail, and seems so lifelike, while the lone figure on the stage is more of a sketch. For most us, our heroes are like this, they are larger-than-life figures on our televisions and computer screens that we feel we know so well. In actuality, the real person, the one behind the public persona, remains private.

But there is still another reflection in the painting; the lights of the personal recorders. They are more glow than detail, more memory than digital copy. This is where your experience lives, where your memories of that moment reside. It is reminder that in an age of wide screens, high-definitions, and perfect angles, we still find the need to capture and share our own unique perspective.

I know you will love this painting as much as I do. In the future, you will look at this work and think back to these times, and remember them as remarkable and cherished moments in tech history.

Details: "The Introduction. Steve Jobs at Macworld." is Nitrozac's 39th painting of her Painting Blog. It's an original oil painting, on 12 x 12 inch stretched canvas. The painting is 1.5 inches thick, with painted sides, so you can frame it if you wish, or display it as is. The painting will be dry and ready to ship a few weeks after the auction ends, depending on the drying conditions and such. The back of the painting will contain the title, the date painted, Nitrozac's signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

Please note that the photographs capture parts of the painting that are still wet. This is especially noticeable on the right hand side of the painting, in the black paint, but this will disappear as the oil paint dries. The painting should be able to ship in about three weeks. Rest assured, I will not ship an oil painting that hasn't fully dried!

If the painting isn't sold at auction, it will be up for sale in our webstore at a higher than originally listed price, so it does pays to bid on the auction! Best of luck to all bidders, I know you will love this painting as much as I do.

Shipping for each painting is extra... to the US and Canada it is 15 dollars, to other locations, 25 dollars. If the buyer is located in Canada, I will have to charge the appropriate Canadian taxes.

Wow, what an auction! Thanks to pv for picking up this painting!
Click here to View the Auction.

Earlier this year marked the passing of one of our heroes, science-fiction writer and visionary Arthur C. Clarke. Looking over our work at The Joy of Tech and AfterY2K, you will find many references in our comics to his books and ideas. One of his most famous and beloved characters is the HAL 9000 computer from his Space Odyssey saga. HAL is an artificial intelligence, the sentient on-board computer of the spaceship Discovery. In the movie 2001: A Space Oydessy, HAL is depicted as an omnipotent presence, with an all-seeing red lens, but with soft voice and a pleasant manner, even when trying to kill his astronaut crew. The effect is chilling, humourous, and unforgettable.

(Snaggy and I created a tribute comic to Arthur C. Clarke, which featured HAL, you can find that here, and of course you can read more about HAL over on WikiPedia.)

I really like this painting. What should be a rather cold and lifeless image, of metal and glass, is actually a very warm one. I get the strange feeling there is someone, or some presence, behind that red glow, watching everthing that is going on in the room. And of course it reminds me of the brilliant imagination of Arthur C. Clarke, and that makes me smile.

I think you will love having your own HAL 9000 in your home or office, or spaceship, to keep an eye on you. Perhaps one day it will say "Good morning Dave." :-)

Details: "HAL 9000" is Nitrozac's 38th painting of her Painting Blog. It's an oil painting, on 11 x 14 inch stretched canvas. Because it is oil paint, it may take weeks before it is completely dry and ready to ship, so please be patient. The back of the painting will contain the title, the date painted, Nitrozac's signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

Shipping for each painting is extra... to the US and Canada it is 25 dollars, to other locations, 35 dollars. Please Note: Canadians will be charged any appropriate taxes (GST) and PST if the bidder is from British Columbia, in addition to the sale price.

Thanks again to all the bidders!

This painting was sold at auction... thanks Jack!

Most of us Apple fans have grown up with the original rainbow colored apple logo on our computers. It was designed by Rob Janoff and was Apple's logo from 1976 to 1998 when Jobs replaced it with a monochrome version. I miss that logo sometimes, I feel somewhat nostalgic about it. That's why I painted this commemorative painting. Perhaps it's a bit of longing for the days gone by, when Apple computers were little, beige, chunky boxes, with black and white screens, and KidPix was very entertaining. Sometimes I reminisce about those days when very few people had computers, let alone the internet in their home. You'd have to borrow a computer or go over to a friend's house to work on your resume on their Apple computer. Looking at this logo, it brings me back to the days where you could actually hear the sound of logging onto the internet with the modem happily bleeping and blopping away. It also takes me back to the days when getting an email was exciting. Untainted-by-spam email, each one was from someone you knew–unimaginable today!

This painting, though of a logo it may be, represents that era of when technology hadn't melded it's way into every aspect of our lives. Computers enhanced our lives, they hadn't taken over our lives at that point. Instead of precisely copying the striped colors of the logo, I painted them with expressive freedom, I want to convey the creative spontaneity and sense of fun I feel when I think of that era. I kept the logo itself crisp and true to it's apple shape to represent the business side, because Apple is a business, after all.

Details: "Original Apple" is Nitrozac's 37th paintng of her Painting Blog. It's an acrylic painting, on 16 x 20 inch stretched canvas, the largest canvas to date. The painting will be dry and ready to ship after the auction ends. The back of the painting will contain the title, the date painted, Nitrozac's signature, and a fingerprint for authenticity.

Best of luck to all bidders!

Shipping for each painting is extra... to the US and Canada it is 25 dollars, to other locations, 35 dollars. Please Note: Canadians will be charged any appropriate taxes (GST) and PST if the bidder is from British Columbia, in addition to the sale price.

Robert A. Heinlein, Arthur C. Snaggy and I have featured them in our comic, AY2K. I painted them as they appeared in the comic. Heinlein and Asimov are painted in ghostly blue with "Sci-Fi" swirls around them to reflect their existence beyond this life. Arthur C. Clarke, who is still alive, is painted in realistic colors (with an Aardvark computer in the background).

The three paintings make a triptych (although I am selling them separately). I enjoy painting tributes to iconic geeks, and The Big Three have greatly inspired geeks for many years and provided non-geeks with excellent entertainment. They brought the notions of space travel, robots, communication satellites, and so much more to life, I really can't imagine the world without their ideas!

When I look at these paintings it brings me a sense of inspiration, because they are artists who had originality in thoughts and work. I believe that they have changed the world for the better, and what I admire is that they changed the world with their ideas, not products. That is an extremely rare and great acheivement.
