I present to you, Nitrozac's Painting A Day Blog's 21st painting... a portrait of Kevin Rose, founder of Digg. Digg is a favorite destination for many geeks, so I thought it was deserved to immortalized on canvas. The image of Kevin Rose is inspired from a cover of Business Week where he appeared along with the caption "How This Kid Made $60 Million in 18 Months". For Kevin Rose's background of my painting I painted the Digg logo and a screen capture of the front page of Digg. i think it's a very nice tribute to Digg, and would make a very good addition to an art collecting geek, or a Digg geek!
Of course, I paid very close attention to detail in this painting. I was careful to paint the news stories of that day, and if you look closely you can read parts of the headlines, and even the person's name who submitted a story! I just love little things like that, it gives it so much more depth and interest. From an artist's perspective, I quite admire Digg, it's fresh, it's interesting, the name "Digg" is used so cleverly; people "digg" stories and such. I like that the stories aren't chosen for you, you can go in and dig around. It's the perfect time waster!
