How do you feel about Gawker being shut down after the Hulk Hogan (financed by Peter Thiel) lawsuit?
- I don't know enough about it for an opinion.
- Good! Gawker was scum of the earth!
- My first reaction was Good!, but then I thought, hmmm, that's kind of scary that rich people can shut down a paper or website with lawsuits just because they didn't like what was printed!
- Even though Gawker gave journalism a bad name, it's a dark day for freedom of the Press.
- It'll all work out. This will stop the most outrageous privacy offenses by the Media, but won't kill journalism or independent media.

We currently live on Vancouver Island, Canada, where we have a lovely perspective of the silicon valleys to the south. We make The Joy of Tech using Apple computers, mostly on our MacBook Pros, running Mac OS X. We use software from Apple, Adobe, BBedit, OpenOffice.org, and others, including Microsoft (yep, we do use Microsoft Office for Mac on occasion). Nitrozac uses a Wacom tablet to draw her illustrations.
