Druidling V2.0f has been taking fencing lessons for a year or so, and is getting quite good at it.
Recently, some of the parents expressed an interest in doing a little introductory course themselves, partly because we'd like to have a better understanding of what the kids are doing, but also because hitting people with swords looks like fun.

So yesterday was lesson 1 of a 4 week course, our coach is on the Australian team, so he knows his stuff, and we spent 1.5 hours learning the correct stance, how to advance, and retreat, lunge, parry, and riposte.
It was a hot day, those padded jackets made it feel even hotter, and I ended up hurting in muscles I'd forgotten I had, but hey, hitting people with swords is heaps of fun!

My one piece of fatherly advice to Druidling 2.0f when she started fencing lessons was...
"Stick 'em with the pointy end"

My daughter's Epee coach used to train her to aim the thrust so that when your arm was fully extended, the tip of blade would be in plane with your opponent's back.
