For comparison, in Melbourne at the moment petrol is $A1.26 per litre, which works out to $US 4.95 per US gallon.

Wow...that's almost cheap. [Razz]

I realize it's apples and oranges, but the last time I was across the pond, it was ~£1/liter...which is bloody expensive. :/

MoMan's link is pretty illuminating to me, though, as I think it says a lot about how many people continue to drive wildly wasteful vehicles. While prices certainly aren't /low/ Down South, they're a heck of a lot better than here. My schmuck of a recently-former boss (thank $DEITY he got 'reassigned') loudly pondered "Why don't y'all drive more trucks up here?" some time ago. (Um...because we don't need them...and because gas is too expensive to pour into such guzzlers.) Also, looking at Texas on that map kind of highlights to me just what a different world Dubya & Perry are from.

now it is is around £1.40... [Frown] and that is expensive even in a measly petrol sipping euro vehicle
