So it was our 26th anniversary on Tuesday, and, as is our tradition, Mrs Druid and I went out to a fancy restaurant for dinner. I was feeling a little off colour when we left home, got the sniffles during dinner, and by the end of the night I had a full-on head cold.

Ordinarily, nothing to write home about, it's just a cold, I'd probably have taken a day or 2 off work, but...

Mrs Druid is still pumped full of immunity-suppressing drugs from the transplant, she simply cannot be around someone with a cold, so...

I spent Tuesday night on the couch, and first thing Wednedsay morning I threw a few things in a bag and headed off to work. Through this wonderful new thinggy called The Internet, I found the cheapest dive in Melbourne, ($30/night) and booked myself in for 5 days.

I've got to say, as cheapest-dives-in-town go, it's not bad. The room is spartan, but it's got a bed and a desk, and free wireless internet. There's a shared bathroom, and cable TV in the common room. The place is primarily set up as long term accommodation for overseas students, and as it's the summer break, it's half empty, so they're renting the rooms out cheaply by the night to all comers. As student digs go, it's better than some of the places I lived in back in the day, but being among so many teenagers makes me feel old.

____ Well good luck to both of you, too bad you had to leave the abode but health of all is primary. Good find on the sleeping arangements, and don't try to score any Co-eds, you don't need to go notching your belt at this point in your life.

If I meet any young ladies who are kinky for geeks old enough to be their father, I'll be sure to send them your way.

TFD - a couple of questions about your exile....

1) was it entirely your idea, or had you been warned by the hospital that it might become necessary to ship out?

2) Do you hate the shared bathroom yet? [evil]

Mrs Druid had been warned to avoid people with colds, but they didn't explicitly say "So if your husband starts sneezing, kick him out".
I was sneezing like a maniac on Wednesday, real keep-a-box-of-tissues-in-your-hand-at-all-times stuff, so it was very obvious that I had to ship out.

Not really, it's kind of nostalgic, reminds me of my student days, or the backpacker places Mrs Druid and I stayed in when we were on our grand tour of the world.

The good news is, I'm feeling pretty good today, no sneezes at all yesterday, and only the very occasional cough, so I'll wait till late this arvo, and if I'm still feeling well, I'll head home.

Mr Druid.

That is a very good thing you did.

Both of you will remember this fondly, I think.

Best Wishes for her recovery and yours!

Have a great day!
