Congratulations!

So, you'll get to study that people don't all speak English, and may come from places with stanges names like Ouagadougou, Kilkenny or Come By Chance. Or is it politics for the UN - an utopia? [Wink]

Anyway, have fun. Blessed the student who, like a river, follow its course in its bed! [Big Grin]

Yep. I just love Newfoundland's names. (Isn't there a Godspeed, too?) And some from New Brunswick are almost as good. Petit-Kodiac. Small killer bear. Cute, isn't it?

Well here in the old country we have a few good ones too

London Apprentice, Nine Maidens, Mousehole (pronounced Mows-awl) and Indian Queens spring immediately to mind (all of those are in Cornwall by the way...) Never been to Nine Maidens or London Apprentice but I think I can guess how it got its name! Indian Queens is however much less picturesque than its name suggests and Mousehole is a very tiny and picturesque fishing village (famous mostly for the loss of its lifeboat with all hands in 1981)

Based on your other posts, spungo ,I am surprised to learn that you don't prefer either
Intercourse or its near neighbor down the road Blue Ball, both in the state of Pennsylvania, USA. And both in areas settled and populated by Amish farmers, one might add. (wink...wink...nudge...nudge and all that other Python sillyness) [Wink]

Edit: Congrats to jordanv. Go get 'em. (Yankish encouragement) [Razz]

Here are a couple of good one from the States.

Beaver Lick or Bugtussel, Kentucky

Or a family favorite.

Hooker, Arkansas.

Check this site out for some other unusual names in the Union.

My father was born and raised not far at all from South Dildo, NF. It's also near Virgin Arm, NF if I remember correctly.

I just wanna know, if that's where her arm is, where's the rest? [evil]

Wow, that's piss poor site design. Don't suppose they've ever heard of Fitt's Law. Then again, as I can see that site was designed on a Windows PC by a novice, I'm not terribly surprised.

I've seen some real eyebleeders in my time....

Can't point you to any as I usually try to forget them ASAP

Looks passable in Safari on my old G4

Yeah the design lacks any real style, but then so do a lot of much more "pro sites"

Perhaps it was put together by an amateur using a Mac who didn't check it against any other OS or browser?

What are you using DNM? Dragon? Just for comparison...

Thanks for jumping the gun, GarlicGuy! I was going to post that I live in Lancaster County--"Amish Country"--where we say that Intercourse is on the road to Paradise. Blue Ball is near there, as well as Bird-in-Hand (of course, that comes from the old saying "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush," but now knowing your minds and how to think like 'em, wow, that has crazy innuendo!). [Eek!]

Serenak: I say "Immature Windows person" because:
a. Put the stuff up with spaces in the directory/file names
b. Used Windows code pages (language sets) in the HTML [and this doesn't render "correctly" in my browser - but I don't think that's a proper piece of code]

The gripe that put me in Fitts was the teeny 'continue' link on the front page - FFS, take the user to real content, IMMEDIATELY!

Actually, I hadn't bothered going past the front page, but it is pretty crappy.

Nearly as crappy as some of the web sites I was looking at the other night while googling for "web hosting". Seriously, try it, half of the hosting company web sites look like they were put together by 15 year olds who have read the first couple of chapters of "HTML for Dummies".

Dman, DNM, and Druid, I have to side with Serenak on this one. That's not awful. This is awful.

As I recall, Oregon has some funky place names. Government Camp, Boring, Rhododendron, Troutdale. You get the picture.

Ooh, ooh, I've got one.

Longer term Gcers might remember this one (Geocities, so it'll probably go over bandwidth at some point).
