Please be honest.
How many of you waste time at work in order to make your job look more time consuming.

Does it work?
How many hours a day do you waste?

It doesn't work, and when I find people doing that, I fire them.

I am not one to waste any time. I have craploads of work and have no reason/desire to frivolously squander time away.

The only time I've been known to waste is an very occasional 10-minute armagetron match with coworkers if there is a lull in current projects.

Sure all day. 2000 systems 2 techs. I am here 20 minutes early to screw around and play online.

Seriously I do screw around while waiting on other items. But prolong a job to make myself look important? No.

There are always things to do. I never get "caught up" i just prioratize.

I take 5-10 minute breaks every hour where I go (usually here) and surf other sites.. I usually ensure something else it happening anyway.. (ie a compile, a long sql query running, etc.)

I need to look away from my code at least every hour or I forget about the world around me completely and it's a weird feeling to come out of that 'zone'.

Well I must say no I don't waste time to make me feel more important, but I do have to put little simple stuff off to the side to take care of real problems.
