I went to see this movie on opening day. So, there I was, all excited and pumped up, ready to see a bit of that sexy Captain Jack Sparrow, eagerly clutching my free poster (w00t!), and finally the screen lights up and the room dims.

The story had a nice line to it, and I was able to concentrate on the movie the entire time (which is amazing in itself, as I barely even pay attention to the person I'm conversing with). There was, as expected, romance, heartache, sword fights, an undead monkey, cannibals, and a bit of humour put into aspect with every given moment. Thumbs up to that! [thumbsup]

But also, there was a dash of good ol' lust (I'm not going into details!), backstabbing, and the end of the movie, unfortunately, left us all hanging on the edge of our seats, practically drooling all over the person's head who was sitting in front of you, only to be disappointed. So, of course, this calls for a THIRD movie. [ohwell]

Perhaps the people over in Hollywood figure that we, as Americans, are in love with Captain Jack Sparrow (and who could forget the charming Will Turner and lovely Miss Elizabeth Swan?) so much that we're willing to wait another 1-3 years and waste more gas and money to gawk at their much-adored, familiar faces in unfamiliar settings? Sadly, I think they're right.

They filmed a lot the scenes for the third at the same time as they filmed the scenese for this one, so it's actually going to be a bit less than a year until the third (assuming no delays). The release date is somewhere around the end of May of 2007.

Knowing that they were definitely doing a third, it makes sense that they'd leave unresolved plot points in the second.

I too traversed the crowds to see the movie on opening night... and I enjoyed the movie (but no free poster for me [Frown] )

My bladder was about to explode after the two an a half hour movie was finished, but it was enjoyable.

I'm glad it'll only be a year before the third movie, because I really want to see what happens to Jack, Elizabeth, and Will.

I finally saw the movie last week. I thought it was really awesome. I've talked to a couple people about the movie, and some people think that Johnny Depp is overrated. IMO, he was great. I don't think he was underrated or overrated.
In any case, I was listening to the soundtrack for this movie, and I thought the making of it was great. Has anyone else listened to the soundtrack yet? What did you guys think of it?

I thought it was dopey, but pretty and a decent popcorn flick. Nothing that'll go down in history.
