If you drop blood cells into a concentrated salt solution, the cells shrivel up like raisins...why?

If you drop blood cells into distilled water, the cells will swell up and burst, why?

If anyone can help me with my Biology lab, I will be eternally greatful...

Think about what salt does to certain things, like eggplant or cucumbers (you'd know this if you cook).

Otherwise, Google is your friend. ;-)

You are more than welcome, I've been doing organic chemistry all day. A break from NMR spectra and the smell of acetone was awesome.
