I just watched Barbarella for the first time. This has got to be one of the best Space themed B-movies made ( it is bad, and because of that so good.) If I ever get a space ship the floor walls and cieling will be very long shag carpet!

Saying stupid, hurtful things is not the same as treason.

Aside from that, Barbarella isn't even close to being the best space themed B movie. Forbidden Planet would be my pick.

Theory of Relativity

Where you view an event from determines how you see an event. That is why Eye witnesses are so poor.

Yes "The War is Over" how ever the recording in my mind has not been erased or written over. With the exception of Xanthine most of you have never scrapped someone else's bodily fluids off of your arms, or hands. Visions that haunt me, so easily replayed by news casts. The news story about the family setting out to sail the world and their child became sick, The news video showed jumpers walking out of a C-130 and dropping toward the ocean, been there done that. When the Tall Ship City of Baltimore was sinking the camera showed the flattened sea caused by the rotor wash, been there done that.

So to see Hanoi Jane sitting on a AA gun and giggling and joking with the NVA about shooting down fellow Airmen, from my point of view, that is an act of treason! Aiding and abetting the NVA propaganda machine.

You do not wake up during the night wondering if that click was the sound of a safety coming off. Three of my uncles were tormented by what they had seen, luckily my daughters did not have to experience those same thoughts.

Treason has a legal definition. You don't get to redefine it.

Will you accept these?

Merriam-Webster.com

the free dictionary

They both speak of aiding an enemy.

No and neither would any court.

"A betrayal of trust" covers pretty much every politician, lawyer, informant, whistle blower, undercover agent, every kid who lied to his parents about doing something, every parent who told their kids that Santa Claus was real... in short, every human being on the planet.

Understand this; I'm not arguing that what she did was right. It wasn't. Stupid and offensive is not the same as treasonous and the hyperbolic labeling of stupid shit as "treason" and "terrorism" in this country has gotten to the point where it's really causing issues. Attitudes like yours are just the other side of the coin that has Sarah Palin being cheered for saying that waterboarding is baptism for terrorists. It's stupid and destructive to the social fabric of the country.

"Hanoi Jane", "Tokyo Rose". Both did the same thing, how ever one was a child of luxury, a lap dog, of the female poodle sort.

Tokyo Rose is an even more ridiculous example.

"She often undermined the anti-American scripts by reading them in a playful, tongue-in-cheek fashion, even going as far as to warn her listeners to expect a “subtle attack” on their morale."

"Stories circulated that Tokyo Rose could be unnervingly accurate, naming units and even individual servicemen; though such stories have never been substantiated by documents such as scripts and recorded broadcast."

"Toguri’s prominence saw her branded as one of the war’s most notorious propagandists, but evidence shows that she was not a Japanese sympathizer. Toguri’s program became conflated with more vicious propaganda, and she was arrested and convicted of treason after the Japanese surrender."

And let's not forget that the US was putting Japanese (and anyone who looked Japanese) into internment camps at the time, including four year olds.

In that atmosphere, there was no chance in hell that she had a fair trial. There's a reason why she was given a pardon in 1977.

MoMan: While I agree with you about Jane Fonda being a traitor, Iva Toguri's true story shows she is not.

Tokyo Rose, Kangaroo court. However No one can convince me that that female dog, is an American. She may have been born here but she sold her birth right. When she went to the PRNV

I also believe that we had no right to interfere in French Indo China Chairman Ho really wanted a peoples republic not French Colonial rule, we should not have interfered. 54K Americans.

Barbarella is a very silly movie. The only good thing about it is soft-pr0n aspect near the beginning (Hanoi Jane had the best traitor's legs ever). I'm with Grumpy on Forbidden Planet.

Both movies were great. Jane Fonda served her penance. She's was married to Ted Turner for 10 years.
