how a 70 year old ration tastes?

Me neither.

That is until I saw this YouTube page.

It is both interesting to see what he finds, and the shock of, "is he really going to eat that?!

And it's not the only one.

CommanderShroom, I did not need to wonder I have eaten those rations, you eat what what you have to to survive. However local food may not be very appetizing, I was not interested in worms or beetles.

I will admit that the only rations I have eaten were K-rations as an ankle biter, and MREs from camping. And I have no intention to eat them for any other reason (not that they would take me at this point anyway). It's still fascinating seeing what troops were shipped off with to survive. I mean just the idea a pack of Lucky Strikes in a can fascinate me as much as seeing the different foods used as technology has changed.

The best food in the navy was on or near Naval air stations, the Submariners did very well also, smaller ships not as good.
