The Swallows are back, They were not coming around for a couple of years, now however they have returned. They make mowing difficult because I tend to watch them fly. I tend to not watch where I am going and have to re-mow some areas as I am not over lapping as I get distracted.

They ground is drying out and soon tillage will begin slightly later than normal but it looks like it may turn into a good growing season.

We have plenty of deer around and I think that the does have had their fawns, Bambi's

Any idea why the swallows went AWOL?

None what so ever the absence was about three summers now they are back. I love watching them getting bugs mid flight. I was beginning to think that there was an environmental issue. They sure look healthy now, I wish I could fly like them.

Trivia note: last year Clan MacDruid visited Doune Castle, in Scotland (known to Monty Python fan as almost all of the castles in Holy Grail, and as Winterfell to Thronesies).

It's home to a thriving colony of swallows (not sure if they're African, or European), who dart about the castle courtyard startling visitors with their aerobatics.

Oh, and the staff have some coconuts that they happily lend to visitors.

Has Doune Castle ever burned and/or sank into the swamp?

Dunno about that, but it is the origin of the word Mondegreen

I spent way too much time on Wikipedia this afternoon, but I feel much more informed in the world of mondegreens and eggcorns now.

While I reported earlier this year that the swallows were back. At this time I see very few. Maybe?

National Geographic.

Nah just a coincidence.
