I don't know if many/any follow AsapScience, but I subscribe to their RSS, and thought this was neat:

Butter vs Margarine

It's chockful of chemistry and I certainly think I learned something from it. [Smile]
(I won't pretend to get the whole thing, but it does seem a bit clearer than 'butter better, margarine worse.' [Big Grin] )

While I knew everything they mentioned already, it was amusing until I got to this bit:
"Trans fats lower the good cholesterol and higher the bad cholesterol."

They need to higher their vocabulary and grammar skills.

I don't think they stress well enough that we don't completely understand the effects of saturated fat, trans saturated fats and unsaturated fats. We see correlations and draw conclusions, but those conclusions might be wrong.

'higher the' ??
Oh dear - but I think they're Canucks, so maybe that's OK? [Razz] [Smile]

For me, I simply knew that evil science had been done to essentially 'solidify' vegetable oil into margarine, but thought their presentation was a bit more informative than 'evil science applied.'

From a farmers point of view plant a field of rape, harvest the rape seeds. Then perform magic and it becomes Land-O-Lakes.

That is cool.
