Well, with newborns, it doesn't matter. I could put any photo of a newborn up and claim it's mine ( since I don't think I have ever posted pics of Mrs. Ash.)

babies all look the same to me, and I completely did not understand Mrs. ASh's Mother saying oh it has her nose, my eyes, her feet, her hair, my fingernail ( yes really they decided the baby has my fingernails!)

anyways maybe I'll post a picture later, with a greusome story of how blue, slimely and sticky newborns are ( its not like on TV boys). ( though she did come out with alomst longer hair then me.)

Well done, both of you (...but mainly, well done Mrs Ashitaka [Wink] )

Treasure these first few days, for all too soon the time will come when all your favourite clothes will smell faintly of milky sick. [Razz]

pic proof (sort of)

I guess the real proof will be when the INS asks that I take a DNA test to prove I am the father so my daughter can have a US passport. ( which I have heard may happen sincce immigration is currently a hot topic in the states.)

Ash just curious, but when my daughter was born, it changed me from a rather buttoned up cynic, into a romantic and over emotional idiot overnight. I remember being in a supermarket the next day, and really falling apart as I realised there was this tiny being who I had known for less than 24 hours, but who was nonetheless more important to me than almost anyone else in the world. I was in this state of supercharged emotional intoxicaton for several weeks. Another father described it to me as being "drunk on love".

Has anything like that happened to you?

I was in the operating room (c-section) and all of a sudden ( 6 minutes after they started) I heard crying. I got this stupid grin on my face suddenly, from hearing the sound of crying, a stupid grin from ear to ear, which is in much contrast to my normal reserved self.
now I am just really curious what the future will bring, before, I had a " I really don't care what is coming" type of mentality.

Congratulations! I'm so happy for you both!

It is overwhelming. My experience was slightly different. I adopted and my daughter was assigned to me. It didn't seem real just getting a call and an emailed photo. Then several months later a small baby was place in my arms. She was sick and cutting teeth, absolutely miserable. And she was the loveliest thing I'd ever seen.

____ Ash, just you wait, the roller coaster ride is just beginning, ups and downs for the next twenty years.

Ash - it is not a scenario I have experienced myself. However, I can understand the how overwhelming it must be to get that emotional rush, that sense of "nothing that came before this is of any importance", that feeling of anticipation about how things will unfold, that sense of wonder you get when faced with new experiences. I am sure I will find it a very moving experience when eventually I get to hold my first bottle of Chateau d'Yquem. [Razz]
