I hit a deer on the way into work. I'm still shaking and never want to have that happen again. Not sure what happened to the deer it ran off to it's fate. My car now has a big dent in the hood, but I'm okay

____ Aditu, over my lifetime of driving, I have killed more Deer with my truck than Deer Hunting. 78 Chevy, 8 point buck. 98 Dodge, Very large doe. Two years later two small does in the same hit. The first and second ones were early morning, the last two were mid-afternoon. None of these have come over the hood or grille. Almost got a nice buck with a Grand Prix the Mrs owned, but it got away. That one would have come up the hood.

A friend of mine saw a deer running towards the raod and managed to stop right next to it without hitting it.
Unfortunately it was spooked and jumped on top of his bonnet (hood) and caused a fair bit of damage anyway.

<bad-croc-dundee-impersonation> That's not a suicidal deer, this is a suicidal deer !

Glad you're relatively OK, Aditu. I've hit three deer, myself, causing damage ranging from a broken headlight frame to total loss of the vehicle. Around here it's more a question of when, rather than if. No one was hurt in any of the crashes, thankfully.

Hitting deer is scary! I've hit two so far, one was in downtown Michigan City, Indiana! That one didn't do much damage, just bent the hood a bit. The second one was a huge buck and it took out half of the front end of my Buick.
