Gunnar, my albino corn snake, got out while under the care of a petsitter a few months ago and wasn't found. [Frown] Having an empty tank around is depressing, as is breaking up with a boyfriend, so after doing the latter, I trotted out and picked up something to fill both voids. Y'know. To make myself feel better.

Some girls go shoe shopping.

I get reptiles.

Who here's surprised? [Roll Eyes]

Anyway, that's Heimdall, spot the Norse mythology reference if you can. He's a spotted python; desert constrictors native to Australia. He's about 4 months old and eats newborn frozen mice, and he'll be between 4 and 5 feet when he's fully grown.

(As a tribute to Sin City, he's been nicknamed "That Scaly Bastard" by a few of my friends. Hee.)

You'll all be drowned in "proud snake mommy" pictures when he starts to grow, too.

Hey, if you wanted a slimy Australian, why didn't you give me a call?

Seriously, congratulations on the snake, he looks to be a beauty.

In defense of the snake, snakes are dry and warm. Amphibians are "slimy" 'cause they tend to hang out in damp places. Frogs absorb oxygen through their skin, IIRC. The only reason your snake should be slimy is if it starts to rot. (Joyous thought! [Frown] )

I've had a few snakes myself. Everything from a few of your average garden snakes, a couple pythons, and a rattlesnake.

The rattlesnake was my final snake though, because like a jackass I started showing off with him around a friend of mine, and it got startled and tried to strike him, so I had to get rid of it. [Frown]

I'll get another snake some day.

Awww! New reptile mommy! As one who never thought she would own a reptile as a pet, I really enjoy my iguana. Of course, Midori doesn't eat anything living (or formerly living), which is good because I couldn't handle that.

I love reptiles. I hope to be able to afford one in the near future.

Heimdall looks like he's got some nice patterns there. Congratulations on the new pet, and my condolences on the disappearance of your previous one.

Yayyy! Snakey!!!! We used to have a lizard (a Rankin's dragon). My wife loved him. Unfortunately, condo rules changed and we had to find an adoptive family. [Frown] Oh well. At least we found a good one.
