Here's a few still on mine...

- Return to New Zealand.

- see real flowing red hot lava. Hawaii is a good bet.

- visit Antarctica, including a dip at Deception Island.

-learn to surf. (Tofino would be OK, but Hawaii will do in a pinch [Razz] )

- see the new Star Trek movie (oh man I am psyched for it!)

-give a lot of money, or time, to a cause that will make a difference.

One that I checked off just last weekend was to go paragliding... whoa... loved it. [Smile]

and I just added a new one today...

-build a life-sized Gort in my yard.
Once or twice a year, in the middle of the night, the Gort theme music will start playing, its eye will open and a red light start to glow, and the only way to get it to stop is to shout Klaatu barada nikto at it. [Big Grin] )

I went to school with Gort.

Maybe I should put attending a class reunion on my bucket list... hmmm?

Wow, I've done 3 of the things on other peoples lists.

As for mine, it would be a _very_ long list, I wouldn't know where to start...

Oh wait, yes I do...

- Dance Vienneze Waltz in Vienna
- Cross Ireland by foot
- Try parachuting and deltaplane
- Learn Russian, German and perhaps Japanese (well, I guess I should add Italian and Spanish too, since they are latin languages and thus easier to learn for a French speaker, but this list is not for obvious/easy goal, is it?)
- Never ever stop being curious.
- Oh, and catch up on the classical litterature front.

(Hmmm, get a house, have a nice library with nice editions of great books, properly learn to play violin, then add some more instruments to my knowlege - and own them too -, etc. Nah, they're too obvious goals.)

In order to fully appreciate a glacier, you need to at least stand on it. Climbing and walking on it will only drive the point further home. But bring all the sun protection you can find - the shady spots on a glacier are not places you want to linger.

In no particular order
* Learn Serbian. I'm acquiring some nice in-laws this summer and it would be nice to be able to talk to them without a translator.
* go to Ireland
* the Appalachian Trail. I am not sure when the oppurtunity will present though. I had a fantasy that if I graduated in May I'd take off on the trail and then come back for my post-doc, but I graduated in December and marched right into a post-doc.
* dive on the Barrier Reef
* Trek and climb in New Zealand
* Aconcagua. And depending on how I cope with that...
* A 7000 m peak in the Himalayas.
Or, if 7000 m is just too high for me...
* A 6000 m peak in the Himalayas.
* Western China
* Japan
* The Iberian Peninsula
* Greece
* Learn to sail
* Get a motorcycle and ride to Alaska (this is likely to happen sooner rather than later - I got my endorsement last weekend and now I just need to save money)
* Learn to paint on silk
* Ride at least one more RAGBRAI
* The Caucasus (even though kreziserb sez it's full of banditos)
* Mt. Foraker

There's more, but that'll do for now.
