If you're on Mac, it sounds like itunes is the go. If you're running under Windows, you should be able to get Winamp to output wave files from the mp3s, then use your cd burning software to burn those.

Toast can directly burn MP3's to audio as it can also do DRM-Protected AAC songs (The catch with the latter is you have to authorize it in itunes, and have itunes installed)

Most sound cards anymore will come with free conversion aps -- I have a $30 Sound Blaster and it came complete with Wave Studio and all those other fun things.

So check your machine -- you may already have that kind of thing available. [Razz]

Why do you need to convert from MP3, anyway? 90% of CD players recognise MP3 format, and you can fit so many more on a CD. Seems kind of a waste, IMO.

I didn't know that!

And it's free, too! Might even consider switching from Winamp when I use Windows.

Yep. Winamp3 sucks ass*. Not sure about 5 (the efficiency/non-suckiness of 2 + the cool DB stuff of 3) - I have to try it out some time. However, I've got iTunes for my Windows machine at work, and am loving it. That, and I've gotten a couple of iTMS downloads courtesy of my wonderful [now] Pepsi-drinking girlfriend [hearts] .

There's only *one* substantial con to iTunes - it doesn't play Oggs :-/. There is an open-source Quicktime library you can install to give iTunes the ability to play Oggs, but it's so inefficient that it really only works in a pinch.

*Whereas Winamp2 really whips the llama's ass.

Geez, I feel like an old man for using SoundAppPPC to convert sound/music files. (and olny using iTunes 2 for my listening needs).

Anyway if you want to be as old skool as I am, SoundApp is great for bulk converting into more formats than i can remember.

I don't know if it's free; I never paid for it.

And another thing...

Why is the world an hour ahead of me?
Maybe I've been mugged by the Time Team. That Tony Robinson, he's just pissed off about the so-called best sitcom thing isn't he?
Gahh!!!
