Got an Intel Mac with 10.6+? Please check out my game!

http://www.udevgames.com/entries/198

It's free and open source. I worked on it with one other programmer, and we made it in evenings and weekends over three months. I think it's pretty cool.

It's for a competition, and there are a lot of other entries (all for Mac). You might like to check the others out, and if you're in time then it'd be awesome if you could vote for the ones you like. Here: http://www.udevgames.com/entries

I'm told it's way too hard, so any feedback would be very welcome. Thanks!

Too hard for me, mate. :/

I couldn't make it through the first level - I kept dying. Personally, I'm not enough of a gamer to accurately target and kill those floaty things and /then/ somehow get those hearts. If they could drop those things rather than flying upward, I'd have a decent chance of 'collecting' them.

(I must confess that I didn't spend /too/ long giving it a shot, but that's mostly because dying repeatedly isn't a thrilling experience to me - it resembles my job far too closely. [Wink] )

No worries, thanks for giving it a go.

It's not really a 'kill everything' game though; the gun is mostly there to get enemies out of the way. The enemies give off hearts because they like you.

Okay - so how do you safely maneuver them, survive, and win?

I thought that might be the meaning of the hearts, but is there a way to gain health back? Those enemies like me far too much... [Frown]

I can't play it, but I think the little blue things in the screenshot are so cute.
