Socialist, as I predicted (well, I predicted anywhere from Socialist to Capitalist, but that varies by mood).

Good test, fairly accurate.

You are best described as a:

Centrist

Evidently I am a Social Liberal (71% permissive) and an Economic Liberal (30% permissive) and would best be described as a Democrat.

Almost the same as Peebs, percentage wise too.

I scored 73% Socially Permissive and 31% Economically Liberal, about what I scored on the "original" political compass quiz. Not surprising, given that that is what this is based on.

And I finally figured out why I'm pro-gun control, since it doesn't really fit with the rest of my views.

Socialist too. No suprise; I'm quite happy to pay Quebec's taxes, knowing very few people will be left behind...

I've considered moving to Quebec on numerous occasions based on the fact that the lower cost of living and insurance would probably easily offset the higher taxes.

Well, apparently I'm a socialist, but I thought this was an anarcho-syndicalist commune?

Ah, the good old libertarian quiz. Haven't done one of these for a while, so here goes...

Social Liberal (83% permissive)
Economic Conservative (66% permissive)
You are best described as a: Libertarian
You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness. loc: (124, 62)

Some of the questions on this one are a bit weird, because they flip between "It is wrong to..." and "It bothers me when...". I'm far more likely to agree with a statement that begins with "It bothers me..." because that doesn't require any action. It's simply an opinion. On the other hand, classifying something as "wrong" is a much stronger statement, and usually leads to criminalization, or other forms of force.

If you intend to raise a family, Quebec ends up cheaper, would it only be for lower price of higher education, and better child support. But if you are a highly paid single (or double high-income couple), and care primarily about your bottom-line, stay in Ontario, or go to Alberta. But of course, if quality of life is a factor... Sorry, I can't compare, as I never lived outside Quebec, but Montreal is my best city to live in for its diversity and latin soul, and Quebec City a close second, for it has all the accomodation of a big city (or almost) with the feeling of a village.

Of course, if you're comparing Ottawa vs. Gatineau, yeah, I guess the Quebec-side ends up a bit cheaper, at least for home-owners, if I can judge from the number of Ontarians who made the switch.

Ok, back to topic now.

. . .

Well, good thing I switched my party registration then. [Big Grin]

Of course, Steven Den Beste has argued that those people labeled "conservatives" are actually "classical liberals," whereas the label "liberal" is applied these days to someone who might best be described as "reactionary socialist." I know this sounds a little like Stu LaJoie saying "I'm a royalist because I'm a democrat," but it's actually more complicated than just "liberal vs. conservative." This post goes into depth.
