First, go read the article about the Unidentified Floating Object. Then read on and post your ideas.

A bit of math tells me that, assuming that by "hundreds of pounds" they don't mean over a thousand, that thing is lighter than a solid chunk of aluminum and also light enough to float in water, so it's got to be hollow, perhaps with stuff inside.

Anybody care to make guesses as to what it is, though?
