What the majority of Americans and others in Western countries don't understand is how companies of Red China are run. They are controlled, if not outright owned, by the PLA. In addition it would not surprise me that non-Red Chinese companies like Foxconn from the Republic of China are heavily infiltrated by PLA agents.

There was an article about the Supermicro story (spyware chips on server motherboards) last year - and how US intelligence knew who did it and when.
Long story short: they were able to track key company executives movements in China backwards in time by their mobile phone location, and identify meetings with key people in the Chinese spy biz.
So, the US has that kind of access to the Chinese communications network.
Which is their job.
It's what the US taxpayer pays them about $80 billion a year to do.
So I find the US government's righteous indignation at other countries doing the same a little hard to take seriously.
Privacy is dead.
I pretty much assume nothing I do is safe from snoopers - my only defence is to live a boring life.
