Scientist Develops Caffeinated Doughnuts

DURHAM. N.C. (AP) -- That cup of coffee just not getting it done anymore? How about a Buzz Donut or a Buzzed Bagel? That's what Doctor Robert Bohannon, a Durham, North Carolina, molecular scientist, has come up with. Bohannon says he's developed a way to add caffeine to baked goods, without the bitter taste of caffeine. Each piece of pastry is the equivalent of about two cups of coffee.

While the product is not on the market yet, Bohannon has approached some heavyweight companies, including Krispy Kreme, Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks about carrying it.

Okay, but how many calories would that caffeinated donut have? If it's about the same, then I'd prefer to have my regular java, thanks.

mmmm donuts... *drool*

They may be missing an even broader market. If it can be in baked goods without negatively impacting flavor, one could enjoy many a stimulating meal!

It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion, it is by the beans of java that my thoughts acquire speed, my hands acquire shaking, the shaking becomes a warning, it is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion

We spend excessive quantities of time attempting to accomplish tasks and insufficient quantities of time enjoying what we have accomplished. I vote for valium donuts! [crazy]

We need to learn how to calm down. Coffee is for waking up, not acquiring superterrific fifth-dimensional powers and super-speed. For that you require what I've got in me pocket...

Here in oz we have a thing called "coffee scroll", which is a kind of "sticky bun" with coffee-based icing. They're quite popular, but a bit sugary and sticky for my tastes.

If you really want a caffeinated doughnut, I'd have thought that was the easy way to achieve it.

I wouldn't think it'd be incredibly difficult to make food caffeinated… you can buy caffeinated water ; so just take one recipe for anything that requires water, substitute, and bingo… you’re on your way to wake-up alley.

Where were those when I was allowing myself to use cannabis and cannabis-derivatives? It's a great idea- stimulate and satisfy the munchies simultaneously!

Opiates for the masses, says I!! [crazy]
