During proofing tonight, I came across an ad requiring the abbreviated version of "Shopping." A Google search turned up chemist and medical abbrev. dictionaries and the pay-to-use Oxford Reference Online Dictionary of Abbreviations, but nothing quick and free (like Dictionary.com). Do you know of any sites online where we can type in the full word and it gives the correct abbreviation for it?

Well, I didn't even know there's such a thing as a dictionary of abbreviations, so I've learnt something. I don't suppose your workplace could shell out for a hard copy version (might be cheaper than the pay-to-use Oxford one).

Ehh, don't celebrate quite yet, csk. I didn't say there was one. I'm hoping one exists, and that it's online.
