_____ I usually open five tabs each with a different weather radar. One is always the NWS Gaylord radar, then up to five TV stations, and their weather radars.

_____ Last night I could not get really currant views, all the sources the time stamps were running from five to ten minutes in the past. This has never happened before. I had a good vantage point for viewing, and a good place to hide, solid signal on my MiFi unit, the pages were loading fast. Just the page date and time was five minutes old. Some of these storms were moving very fast so five minutes is a huge delay.

____ The most interesting storm fell apart before it got to my vantage point. Nothing to see here might as well go home.

Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

This has been a busy season for storm watching. About a month ago we lost power for several days, and since then there have been many losses of power for minutes at a time. We've had high winds, and there have been dozens of tornados strike within 50 miles of us, some causing extreme damage. A huge funnel cloud was filmed rotating directly over downtown Dallas a few days ago, and appeared on the news with Dianne Sawyer. (I don't know what network that's on; I saw it on the internet, not having a TV)

We keep internet running until the last minute, then if the storm is violent, we shut down everything and turn on the weather radio. Sometimes we hear the "Morlock Sirens" telling us to gather in shelters. Once there, big hairy beasts guide some of us into a cave for processing and… wups… sorry. Wrong sirens. These are tornado sirens, which sound the same. Feels about the same, too. Tornados are like a lottery. You know someone's going to get a winning ticket, but you hope it's not you. No, actually you hope it's not anyone. But inevitably someone does, and suddenly the news headlines speak of "killer tornados."

This may be a record year for tornados. They're saying that we've had more tornado reports than ever before. And now the midwest is starting to flood. Yep, it's a terrible weather season.

Best of luck to everyone who is affected by this stuff. We're all in it together.

Some people have been getting too much rain ( US ) some people not enough ( AUS ) .

We also have not been getting enough this spring. Gasoline prices are jumping because the oil barges ( who supply most of our oil) that come down the Rhine cannot be filled all the way because the Rhine is too Low!
