Do you ever find yourself in a situation where you're half an hour post-conversation with someone and you think "Oh! I should have said [such and such]!" Like, when I'm a really heated debate it always seems like the other person is so much better at thinking on their feet. It's really a sad feeling to think that I might forever be condemned to a life of sub-par conversationalism. (Is that a word? Hm, guess I just made it one.)

I always wanted to be witty.

My wife tells me I'm half-way there.

I often find myself half an hour post-conversation with someone and still wanting to bang my head with a rock until my brain is functioning at a level where it will feel like that time is something other than a chunk of my life I can never get back. When debating a topic with someone who appears to be unable to think (on their feet, or otherwise), I think "God, why can't they say something smart?" when deep down I know it's because they are ill-informed and holding a position that is poorly thought out and gleaned from infotainment sound bites.

Tell me, GeekCulture, am I forever condemned to a life of sub-par conversations?

_________________________ And it gets worse, I have found that since I retired and now longer build machines, that I forget whole poop loads of things. I'll make a mental list of things to buy at the hardware store and come out with about 1/3 of what I went in for, I discover this fact after I get home of course.

I guess that the way to stay sharp is to always keep at puzzles, crosswords, and all other word and number games.

I have heard that bike riding, walking, trail hiking all are ways to ward of old age dementia, or is it you wander of the trail and they don't find you, so it is listed as a trail accident instead of "wandered off and became lost".
