I mentioned to Lady_Christy that it had been a hectic few months for me in her I Live!!! thread. So I figured that since I have a little downtime, I would entertain everyone with a stupid story of my recent life.

So let's see, I believe I will start up from the end of June.

After a run in with Johnny Law, my "lovely" ex-wife was required to relinquish custody of my kids to me. And with a few possessions they moved into my little one bedroom apartment. Cramped to be sure. But for a while it was, as Henry Rollins once said, "An avante-garde camping trip." Of course reality and court dates soon followed this point and we had to get bigger digs.

So as of end of last month the three of us have moved to a much more comfortable place, in a nicer spot in town. I haven't seen a cop in over a month of living here. Beats the daily patrols at the last place.

Three weeks ago the court gave me full custody of my youngest son, but I am in a six-month holding pattern with my step-son. But the worst is now over and time has come to start making plans again.

Now in the midst of all of this craziness of threats, debts, missed work, social workers and court dates. I ran into a friend, and incidentally a what-if, of many years. We had not seen one another since before we had both gotten married to our respective ex's. And for some reason through all of this, she decided I was worth her time and effort. Who woulda thunk it?

And as of two weeks ago I bit the bullet and decided to re-enroll in college courses. So if my luck and stubborness can hold out, I may actually wind up with a sheet of paper that says I know a thing or two. It will all be lies, of course. But at least I can fool someone in an HR department.

I do still come around and lurk, but it has been tough to get time to show up on IRC like I did. My free time has pretty well gone. And time I do have is spent doing non-tech related stuff. Yes I am working on those soft skills. Like talking to people, and playing with kids.

But I am alive, kicking and occasionally, screaming. [Big Grin]

Glad to hear things are looking up! I hope things keep getting better. [Applause]

Rock on dude! I've been away from IRC for a good while due to some assorted things, not the least of which is a sad home computer. Now I run Portable XChat Aqua from time to time - but am rarely on a 'normal' hours.

Last I recall, I thought you'd suggested a very different way things were going with the kids, so for better or for worse, I think the news sounds good.

Take care of yourself, man!

Peace,

dragon

Hey, that's great, Shroomy. By all means spend as much time as you can with your kids. Just try and drop us a line every once in a while to say how it's going, m'kay? And best of luck with the parchment chase.

Sounds like, despite all the ups and downs, things are looking up for you. That's great to hear, Shroom.

Glad to hear life is hectic but perhaps on the up at last man...

Drop me a line sometime when you get a chance - but don't sweat on it...

Shroom - it's good to hear the positive news. [Smile]

It does sound like you are getting your sh*t together, as the old hippies used to say! I hope things continue go the way you want, and Good Luck with college.

Oh, just one thing....you're not going to get all grown-up and respeckerble now, are ya? [Wink]
