First of all let me say that i am a sucker for anything sci-fi. This movie was no exception. I thought that the story was quite badass. The plot was alright. If you liked this movie, than i recommend watching the animated short "Dark Fury", which takes place directly after Pitch Black.

Yeah, I saw this movie. For music and special effects I give it four stars. For acting and writing I give it two stars. For direction I give it three stars. Overall it's not a piece of cinema I'd see again.

Let me clarify. Riddicks history is very badass. Yet the movie plot was subpar. It definatly could have been better.

The preview looked interesting, then Vin Diesel appeared on the screen and ruined all hope of it being a movie I'd watch.

Yeah- you said it, Vin Diesel ruined everything. Vin somewhat always acts the same- that cool special agent brute.
How bad that Judi Dench is acting in it too, becacuse I really respect her work and she is a great actress... But she in that movie is a combo that makes me cry...

Actually if you look at Vin's pre-2000 work he showed some talent. His short film Multi Facial about the issues of being typecast into various ethnic roles was quite good.

And now he's getting typecast into killer brute roles.

You guys wait and see. Vin Diesel will be worshipped in 30 years as a 21st century Bogart. I know things, man! </sarcasm>

I thought Boiler Room was pretty good. It wasn't an action movie even. I think that he's taken the wrong advice and made some bad choices of roles.

I think he's a quite good actor personally -- even in XxX and Fast and the Furious.

i thought he was brilliant in Saving Private Ryan, and Fast Furious was ok. only stuff ive seen with him other than XXX which was a lame attempt to combine spy movie with "extreme" sports.

I have to honestly say that I enjoyed Pitch Black. And I'll agree with DNM here, I'm of the opinion that he's a pretty decent actor overall.

Though I didn't care for xXx, my brother who is in the military and is known for his love of extreme snowboarding, skydiving, etc thought it was great. All a matter of personal preference. Oh yeah, and evidently enough people liked it since they're doing a xXx 2

XxX was intended to be "the next James Bond" series of movies from before the original came out, so part 2 probably isn't going to be the last as long as the ones coming out don't bomb horribly.

It's also nice to see Vin Diesel has a half-decent amount of integrity. He turned down the most money in Hollywood when he was offered to be in Fast and the Furious 2, but said, "no way. it's a cash grab because the first one did well and I'm not interested in messing up a perfectly good movie."

Needless to say, they made it anyway without him.
