I own land in the USA, does that mean I'll get a vote there?
Cool, that'll be another vote to add to the ones ACORN and the local mosque lined up for me.

If only property owners paid taxes, he might almost sort-of if-you-get-wasted-and-tilt-your-head-sideways have a point. But as it stands, everyone pays taxes regardless of whether or not they rent or own and therefore everyone is entitled to some say in how those taxes are spent.
In other words, he's a fscking reactionary. Either that or he's been drinking funny tea.

____ Last summer in the primaries one poll canvasser challenged registered voters based on if their names were on foreclosure lists. This is not in the Michigan election codified laws.

Wow...that'd be a surefire way to eliminate a lot of pesky blue votes in NY. NYC has ~8.5 million residents†, and you can bet a good half of them are renters. The same is surely true in most highly populated coastal areas.
Incredible.
Aside: By Xanthine's remarks on taxation, if taken to an unnatural extreme, sales tax paying illegal immigrants ought to be able to vote.
But seriously, have these numbskulls not heard of 'taxation without representation?' It was only one of the cornerstones of the ahem, Boston Tea Party.
† And yes, I know that there are surely a number of children/non-voters in that count, but that doesn't readily diminish the point.

DMan you beat me to it...
"No Taxation without Representation" was (I was taught anyway) the main gripe that led to the people of the American Colonies revolting and fighting a war against the British Crown in order to have the right to determine their own destiny!!!
Of course some asshats never learn anything from history!
