Sunny and 31 C (88 F) here. [Smile]

Actually, I quite like the cold, and snow.
It's the fscking lack of daylight that really gets to me in the frozen north.

Last visit to Scotland, between Xmas and Hogmanay.
Leave Glasgow at dawn (around 9am) drive to Edinburgh, have lunch, come out of restaurant, it's dark! ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH !!!!!
Scotland's a lovely place, but actually living there would drive me MAD ! (which could explain the behaviour of much of my family back home)

Since I didn't have a steady job last year I didn't ski that much but this year...probably be on the slopes every weekend...maybe I can even afford those stunt lessons [Smile]

Hope it blows this direction!

Agreed, winter solistice has about 3 hours of twi/day light, it can really affect some people. By the end of January early February we can hit minus 45 C (well below the freezing point of olive oil) but the days are considerably longer.

On the other hand, no darkness in the summer is awesome!

I couldn't deal with all that dark. I could barely handle winter at the 40th parallel!

It snowed this afternoon for ~20 min. None stayed. Then the sun came out. Good ol' mountain weather.

It's about 50 F here in Everett, WA. Our meteorologists say that it will snow on Wednesday. I, of course, disagree (I always disagree with their forecasts) and say that we'll be having concurrent heavy rain and wind and black ice coming very soon. I'll be off to buy a long scarf and better-quality mittens very soon.

Snow is fantastic when you're a kid... but I imagine it's a pain in the ass when you've gotta drive to work'n stuff. It never really snows here - well, on average about once every three years, and then it only lasts about two days.

Curiously - it's actually horribly warm here right now - the middle of November in Englandshire is usually arse-biscuit cold, with freezing 'orrible Siberian winds - but it's still t-shirt weather out there. Thank Elvis for global warming!!! Woo hoo!!! [Smile]

And the whole fscking country grinds to a halt as millions act like they've never seen snow before. Even the underground rail system in London can be disrupted.
'Wrong kind of snow' ?
Ha !
Soft, that's what you are, soft !

"It's not snow, it's powdered sunshine." We had our first 3 inches last week, now it's just cold and damp. Have had the coal stove going for over a month now.

That's a wise plan. I never paid attention to the forecasts when I lived in Seattle. Looking out the window was more accurate. Same deal in Rochester. Here in Boulder I just assume it will be sunny, and if it isn't, it will be in another five minutes. So it was a rude shock when we had some very upstate NYish weather a couple weeks back.
