Alright, I wasn't looking to start dating this soon after the break up with Sky. But, alll this past week I've been spending time working with this girl on a project for a class, and she's working on a project with Ayo (my best friend) for another class, and so I began to develop a crush on her. I told a small group of my friends, and Ayo began pushing me to ask her out. I mentioned it to Sky, and she said "Carpe Geekium." So, I made plans to ask her this week to the play that is next week. Everytime I was about to, someone would come in and start talking to us about the projects. So, I figgured I'd ask her if she had a minute and then ask her for advice about "this girl I want to ask out." But, she was busy with stuff. I know I've mentioned where I work before, so I thought it rather odd that as she was gathering up her stuff, that she stopped and asked me where I work. So, I told her, and she didn't saything, but she stood there for a few seconds. Then the thought struck my brian "Hey, perfect lead in...", so I asked "Oh, I have these tickets to a play next week, want to go?" ... Her answer.... "Oh! When is it?" So, I told her about the play, and when it was, and she said "yes."

After she walked out I realized, she KNEW... She had to know, she didn't have any reason to ask about my job, and didn't say anything else about it after asking. So, I think someone told, (in retrospect it might have even been me -- I was about to ask a few days ago and Ayo came walking up. We were talking about my job, and I was going about to ask... Anywho, she walked into the office (of a society she belongs to) and I waited a few seconds before exclaiming to Ayo, "I'm a coward!" and it is possible she heard that. Anywho, I'd like to know who spilled the beans, but that isn't the point of this post. The point, you don't know untill you ask... And if they know your going to ask, they may find a number of ways of telling you, reminding you and/or making it easier for you to ask.

Carpe Geekium!

Yay [Big Grin] ... congrats, indeed - I'm really glad you had the guts to do that.

Just goes to show - if everyone always followed my advice, the world would be a much brighter place [Wink]

Figgures! Grrrrrr...

Alright, she's attached. I assume that means the play this comming friday isn't a date. I also asume that means I need to move on to the "hunt" again. Remind me to kill the person who told me she was single.. Ok, not kill, but at least mame a little.

/me treads on thin ice: How attached is she?

Sometimes in matters of the heart, you must attempt pursuit anyway, and perhaps win her heart over to you. Then again, you may simply be mildly infatuated with her, which probably isn't worth breaking a relationship over. Anyway, these mutterings of a dragon should probably be quickly dismissed (besides who am I to speak, I'm happily attached at the moment :-D).

With me it doesn't matter. If I hd known in the firsst place I wouldn't have persued her at all.

Well, I know that I could fall for this girl, really easily, but I'm not in love with her at this point in time. At least the way I found out wasn't too awkward, and thus she doesn't KNOW that I want anything more than friendship... So, at least I get a new friend out of it. For whatever that is worth.

Thanks DM for the advice though...

Just a little word of advice, beware the possibility that you might be on the rebound. You mentioned that you weren't expecting another relationship so soon in your first sentence, so be sure that you're ready before you get into one. Rebound relationships usually don't work out, from my observation.

I know the danger of the dreaded "rebound relationship," but that isn't why I was/am instrested in her. I have little to worry about the only other person I would be considering is even less avalible to me... So at least for the moment I won't be looking for a relationship.

dict love returned:

LOVE, n. A temporary insanity curable by marriage or by removal of
the patient from the influences under which he incurred the disorder.
This disease, like _caries_ and many other ailments, is prevalent only
among civilized races living under artificial conditions; barbarous
nations breathing pure air and eating simple food enjoy immunity from
its ravages. It is sometimes fatal, but more frequently to the
physician than to the patient.

Since when did U and Zorro begin writting definitions for the Devil's Dictionary?

I agree. My problem is I will go from one to another to another. Not fun.

It seems the whole reason I was originally informed that she was single is because she was talking about dumping her boyfriend... Now, however, a family emergency has called her away to Mexico (she gets back tomarrow)... And as far as I know, we're still on for the play. I don't know how to handle the situation, and any/all advice would be appreciated.
