I would like to find that info out too, I have an old USB QuickCam that does not work in OSX and I would like to do ivisit, cuseeme etc.. on my G4.

I have heard good reviews for the iBot firewire camera, is anyone using that? I believe it runs about $99.

FYI the setup I'm using for my webcam is a PowerMac 7500 with a 233/G3 card and a Pixera camera with an RCA connecter (the 7500 has RCA and S-video inputs) and StripCam software.

I like using a camcorder as a webcam... zoom and macro and all the fixings really help... if you can, that's the route I'd go. Perhaps you can find a used one out there....

Edit:

Was tired when I posted this response:
If you get a DV camcorder with a firewire connection you can ignore the info below.

Also in order to connect a camcorder to a G4 you will need either a USB adapter, Dazzle system or PCI card with video in. [Frown]

I know nothing about this one but it works in OSX and Dr. Bott usually sells quality products.

If you find out anything, please tell me. I'm looking at x10 systems and there are third party drivers that supposedly run it. I run my 3M HomeConnect on OSX. The jury is still out on that one.

I have a Pyro firewire webcam its working and looks better than a USB cam but with the cheep plastic lens you don?t have great control over the image it works best at close range.
I do some product quality control with it at work in conjunction with Video script a scriptable video and image program.
To what I know the fire-i would be a good choice but when you can afford it go with what snaggy suggests and get a miniDV.
Zoom and a good lens make all the difference.

I have not had a webcam since my QuickCam VC days. There are some third party drivers that may work with something you can find off ebay.

The other issue is client software - Ie who do you want to let view your cam, and how? I think yahoo works with OS X now.
