After reading www.appleturns.com today, I was left with a nagging question. What is framistan? Apparently if you go to http://www.info.apple.com/support/export.html and scroll down the list, right underneath final cut pro there is something called Framistan. What is Framistan? Does anyone know? Any guesses?

I also read that article. Then while crusing the formums i saw that you had read the article also. I am also wondering what the mystery product is. Framingham is a town in englad. It is also listed as a suburb of Boston. So i am wondering if their is any connection to that? There was rumor a while back of a so called iTalk app. My guess is that this very may be the mystery app.

I don't know what it means in the Apple world, but the framistan has long been a mythical component in any mechanical engineering project, great or small, which is referred to when you are trying to baffle them with bullshit.

E.g. "Well, when we got the car up on the lift, we saw some oil leaking from the framistan and had to replace that". "The radio was working this morning, but the framistan blew so we had to go into town to get a new one".

Perhaps the site is toying with you.

I suppose that could be a possibility. I really wish it was some cool new software from apple though that someone posted info for early. I mean, if you're going to mess with the mac rumors crowd, why not generate a false leak through MOSR instead of putting some funky name that sounds like a middle eastern country down as a product on an "export compliance information" page?

Humm, i think maybe by not leaking it to a specfic site they are allowing more hype to be generated. Something like reverce psychology. I mean we are talking about some very smart people in apple, i think they are reasoning so far above us on this one we will never figure it out. Though on a side note, that page was not updated with the new lcd imac data. if it was maybe i somehow missed it. But it may have been that was the new imac. Just a thought.

Somehow I don't think the new iMac would be listed under software. It seems to me like this is not a good way at all to generate any kind of hype. Just a name that sounds like a middle eastern country? I mean if it had said something like iTransporter it might get a little bit more hype going than framistan. My bet is that it's probably a joke like quantumfluff talked about. I really wish it wasn't though.
