Actually, Android came before iOS (2003 vs 2005), but I take your point about tablets.

You can't really use the date that development begins on products to determine which product was first. If that was how things were done, Duke Nukem Forever would have been given awards for being the best game of 1996 and nobody would have complained about it coming out sixteen years later and sucking.

WTF?

Sorry...but that's just ridiculous.

Wikipedia bashing aside, version history articles for both show the first iPhone (and iOS 1.0) being released on June 29, 2007. Android v1.0 was released a year later, w/the G1 on 22 October 2008. (The OS formally came out a few weeks earlier. The beta version first came out in late 2007, but I hardly think that counts for most people.)

It's probably worth noting that I'm not a fanboy for either of the above, I'm just a fan of Common Sense (TM).
(I have an iPod Touch that I quite like, but my next phone will probably be Android-based. [I *gasp* don't have a smartphone.])

P.S. GrumpySteen: Duke Nukem Forever actually came out?! I got so used to it being vaporware that I barely thought it possible that it could be released. Shouldn't unicorns be flying through the sky tossing gold coins to us all?

Yup. Back in June. It got mediocre to bad reviews and it's already fairly easy to find for $10 or less in bargain bins (but why would you want to).
