I am guessing becasue of this in the beginning of 2013 there will be alot of cool really cheap outdoor / survival gear to be bought on the cheap. I am saving up my pennies already for what is sure to be the outdoor gear sale of the millenium.

After Y2K (catchy phrase that, would make a good name for a web comic) here in oz there wasn't much in the way of 'Survival Gear' going cheap, the kind of person who buys guns and camping gear to survive armageddon is likely to keep it for the next one, but you could pick up diesel generators really cheap.

Orig. article TL;DR for me - those people are just bonkers.
Also, I realize it's in our nature to want to survive, but quite frankly...would you want to if such a huge disaster struck and most of your loved ones perished?
Loosely apropos - I saw this on Sat. but didn't think it merited the honor of a thread: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/10/us/california-concession-on-apocalypse.html
