I used to think our cats were seriously spoiled.

Now I've seen ModernCat and have discovered that our cats are deprived and neglected.

Why don't we have an IKEAhack DIY climbing wall???

 -

And when we get around to a house, it's soooo going to be like the Japanese cat house. Umm. Except with fewer actual cats.

Cool! I built shelves like that for NitroKitty when we were living at the lakeside cabin... so she could get up into the rafters easily. She loved them.

ModernCat is all very well for sophisticated Scandinavian liberal pinko hepcats, but my cats are traditional cats, God fearing, uncompromisingly opposed to gay marriage, and with a particular fondness for the more graphically violent parts of the Old Testament.

What feline web sites are there on for them?

I'm not sure if I should laugh or cry. So I showed that to my cat. And then tried to convince him that the keyboard is not a place to have a nap...

"Cats are the enemy of God"

[Applause] [Applause] That is the funniest thing I have read in along time. I assume this forms part of the general loony ravings of Bon Jovi's Witnesses?

However amusing this diatribe is, I must take issue with one assertion, amid this travesty of exegesis:

"Is it appropriate for a Christian to own a cat, in light of their past pagan religious affiliation?"

Excuse me? "....in light of their past pagan religious affiliation?

I feel sure that all around the world, we good pagans will be adding an extra gold trinket to our statues of Bast and hoping dire consequences will be visited upon the fsckwit who wrote that nonsense! [Razz]

Indeed, modern studies of classification of cats, while not necessarily being reliable as they may be based on the discredited 'theory' of evolution, strongly associate felines with serpents

ROTFSMPL!

I really, really hope that article is a piss-take.
If it's for real, my estimate of the collective IQ of humanity will have to be revised downward.

Sorry, TFD. I gather from some of the references that it came from Watchtower magazine. (It's the one Jehovah's Witnesses push on you.) It's another instance of "If only it were satire, it would be brilliant."

My favorite part:
quote:
The Bible does not say that cats were not present at Herod's birthday party when John the Baptist was beheaded. History shows that cats were most likely present at this tragic party that Jehovah did not approve of. Clearly then, as loyal Christians, why would we even want to associate with animals that are without a doubt of such bad influence, remembering how true are the Bible's words: 'Bad associations spoil useful habits'!
quote:
The scriptures clearly indicate that neither Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, faithful Job, the Apostles, Jesus nor any other human bearing God's favor himself owned a cat.
I just love that the Bible's complete absence of mention of cats in either instance is incontrovertable proof that they were 1. present and 2. not present.

Very Schrödinger.

_____________________ Our Cat Muffin __ Brought the MrsMoMan a fine Mothers Day present, the wings and tail from a Sparrow sized bird. These bird parts were left on the Dinning room floor near the table. The Mrs. found this at three AM so I had to get up and remove said body parts.

Me thinks that the cat may become a Barn critter, soon.

On a related note - the other day I tried in vain to find a Chick tract to state that cats are evil, but alas, such publications focus on more important issues in humanity. :/
