Finally. I hate DRM. Not because I want to pirate, mind you. But because I don't want to. There are, quite simply, digital products I do not buy because the DRM is too much of a pain in the ass for me to get working. I don't want to waste the money on something that is just going to aggravate me, that I can't get the recommended player for on my platform, or that is going to lock me into a bunch of proprietary crap and complicate my life. Maybe someone finally understands that?

Universal sells songs without DRM

Vivendi's Universal Music has said it is to test the digital sale of songs from artists without the customary copy-protection technology.

It will allow the sale of thousands of albums and tracks available in MP3-form without the protection, known as digital rights management (DRM).

Most major recording studios insist music sellers use DRM technology to curb online piracy.
