So I'm putting in my two weeks' notice shortly at the Apple Store. They've screwed me out of the full-time that I was supposedly hired at for too long.

Story? I fired off an online application for Geek Squad. Ten minutes later, my phone rings. "Can you come in right now?" I hop the T, book it into Best Buy, sit down in the office. Hiring manager walks in and says, "So you're basically hired. How many hours do you want?"

Fuckin' A. I start off with a pay raise, health insurance, 30 hours a week, a hardcore discount, and I get to bounce back and forth between Geek Squad back-of-house repairs and the hardware floor...and I get to piss in my boss's shoes by quitting during the holiday rush.

Oh yeah, also, for those of you who haven't met me recently, my 'hawk's temporarily missing in action. I scalped it down and it's pretty much grown out now. Check out the profile for a new pic.

Awesome!

Of course, you realize you have to deal with spyware now, right? Somehow I find the kick of dealing with that wears off...

Anyway, have a blast! Yay for more green, too! [Big Grin]

Congrats, Demosthenes.

So did you give notice at the Apple store, or are you just not going back?

Fuck, man, I'm not dealing with people...apparently they just toss the hardware at me and tell me to kludge away. Besides, it's a raise and insurance.

Shroom, I'm putting in my notice Real Soon Now. Like, when the regional manager isn't in and the entire store's supposed to be standing at attention. I'm an ass, but I'm not that much of an ass.

I hope you flap your buttcheeks at them as you make that final walk out the door.

...and one more thing...

Can you do me a favor? On your last day wear a Microsoft shirt. Please!?!?! PLEEEAAASSSSEEEEEEE?!?!

Bonus points if you post photos of your rebellion.

Even more bonus points if you wear a "Windows XP" bra on the outside of your shirt on your last day.

Mind you, I'm not suggesting this as a tribute to that imperialistic software company - just as an inappropriate gesture. A mental goose for your ex-superiors, if you will.

But I get carried away...

You'll definitely need that insurance if people are going to toss their hardware at you [Smile]

Contgratz D!

It must have been a crappy place as I can't believe that they aren't giving you more hours AND they have a holiday rush.

I'm not sure what other countries are like (or other people for that matter) but if your employer, be that boss/manager/company is being a pita, then take the bull by the horns and go somewhere you are appreciated!

It's worth the drop in stress.

ewomack, would you mind demonstrating this for those of us who lack your obvious experience in such matters? [Big Grin]

A buttcheek flapping demonstration - now, how much would you pay for those tickets?

That would probably depend on whose 'cheeks were being flapped, and what row the seats were.

I don't know what I was thinking... it seemed like a good idea at the time.
