Ice lake found on the Red Planet

A giant patch of frozen water has been pictured nestled within an unnamed impact crater on Mars.
 -

story here... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/4727847.stm

It is 21.7 miles wide and has a maximum depth of about 1.2 miles. The circular patch of frozen water is present all year round. Faint traces of ice are also visible along the rim of the crater and the crater walls.

WOW!

I didn't see this at ALL in the yankee news. What's up with that?!?

Nonetheless, it's cool news (no pun intended, unless you find it funny - I don't)! Thanks for posting it! Apparently I need to start going to the BBC for my news feed.

I was a bad goalie, but maybe I could dress as a green man and root for our team!??! But I do like wearing the pads... they give me a special feeling. [blush]

Ewomak, I saw this story through Space.com. My homepage
samples their headlines. I think it's because the news was from
the ESA Mars Express probe and not out of a nasa/jpl source.
The American media too busy looking at the current shuttle flight
and only because they see a potential for loss of life.

(I don't get all this science stuff. That's why I went into journalism, sheesh...)
